On October 25, the 71st anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's war to resist the United States and aid Korea was commemorated. In June 1953, the Korean People's Army, the Chinese Volunteer Army, and the United Nations forces, led by the U.S. Military, had reached a consensus on the content of the Korean War Armistice Agreement, but South Korean President Syngman Rhee refused to sign it. On the evening of July 13, the Volunteers launched the Battle of Gimseong against the Rok army.
After the battle, on the battlefield southwest of Jincheng, the 203rd Division of the 68th Army of the 20th Corps of the Volunteer Army (division commander Yang Dongliang) quickly broke through the defense line of the mechanized infantry division (division) in the capital of the ROK Army. The interspersed detachment of the 2nd Battalion of the 609th Regiment and one reconnaissance squad of the 607th Regiment, from midnight on the 13th to the early morning of the 14th, rushed to the depth of the defenders, fought 11 battles, advanced 9 kilometers, annihilated most of the 555th Artillery Battalion of the US Army, most of the 2nd Battalion of the Mech Regiment of the ROK Capital Division, and killed the commander of the Mech Regiment, Lu Gensu, which our army called "the battle south of Erqingdong."
The reconnaissance squad of the interspersed detachment was ordered to disguise themselves as American advisers and ROK soldiers to go forward and make a surprise attack on the 1st Regimental Headquarters of the Capital Division at Erqingdong. The reconnaissance squad consisted of 10 fighters and 2 Ethnic Korean liaison officers led by deputy platoon leader Yang Yucai. They skillfully passed through multiple checkpoints, smashed the headquarters of the 1st Regiment, killed many officers, cut off radio communications between the 1st Regiment and the superiors and subordinates, paralyzed its command system, and made the battle plan of the Capital Division completely unable to be executed, thus having a decisive impact on the battle in the southwest of Jincheng. Lin Yichun, the deputy commander of the Capital Division, who happened to be in the headquarters of the 1st Regiment, was lost during the breakout and was captured by the 204th Division of the Volunteer Army.
Afterwards, the reconnaissance class was awarded the collective special merit, and Yang Yucai was awarded the title of special merit and "first-class combat hero".
The ROK Capital Division called itself the "Tiger Force" and was marked by the "Tiger Head", so the Volunteer Army called the 1st Regiment the "White Tiger Regiment". During the surprise attack, the reconnaissance squad captured a flag with a tiger head motif and the words "Capital Division" at the regimental headquarters, so the flag was considered to be the flag of the 1st Regiment, which is now stored in the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution.

October 25, 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's war to resist the United States and aid Korea. "Remembering the Great Victory and Defending Peace and Justice -- Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea" was officially opened to the public at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution on the same day.
This theme exhibition exhibits a large number of precious cultural relics and documents. Operational maps, telecommunications archives, flag badges, captured weapons... More than 1,900 exhibits, together with the photographs, landscapes and artworks in the exhibition hall, will pull visitors back to the fiery years.
