Trogir, a historical city on the west coast of Croatia, is located in the center of Dalmatia, 27 km west of Split, and is a commercial city and port. The ancient city was founded in the 3rd century BC when Greek colonists developed commerce here and slowly became an important port. It experienced the Eastern Roman Empire, the Venetian occupation and domination, and then developed the main buildings under the rule of the Hungarians. It was ruled by the Venetian Empire until the Hungarian Empire in the 18th century, and lasted until 1918, of which the period from 1806~1810 was ruled by the French. Although the ancient city did not have much development in the 19th~20th century, its architectural wealth was preserved, and in 1997, the ancient city was included in the World Cultural Heritage List.
