Sunrise at Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point, part of the Amagosa Mountains, east of Death Valley National Park in California, United States, is known for its eroded landforms. It was formed by the accumulation of sediment from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up before Death Valley even appeared 5 million years ago. It is also known as a wasteland because of its difficult terrain.

The site was named after Christian Brevoort Zabriskie, vice president and general manager of the Pacific Coast Borax Company in the early 20th century. The company was mining in Death Valley at the time and transported borax in a team of eighteen mules and two horses.
