1. Barcelona, Spain Sagrada Familia – A large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Construction began in 1882 and remains unfinished. Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
2. St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow, Russia – Located in Moscow's Red Square, this is a Russian Orthodox church built between 1555 and 1561 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
3. Notre Dame Cathedral, France Paris - Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most unique and beautiful cathedrals in Europe. The cathedral's striking towers, spires, stained glass and statues are the most impressive. Notre Dame cathedral was the center of medieval Paris and took more than a century to build. Due to the fire, it is currently closed for construction.
4. St. Peter's Basilica, Rome, Italy – built in 1506 and 1615. The dome itself was designed by Michelangelo in 1547, taking into account previous designs for the same dome. With a total height of 136.57 meters from the floor of the basilica to the top of the outer cross, the dome of St. Peter's Basilica is the tallest dome in the world, and the basilica is one of the most famous and visited monuments in Rome and Italy.
5. Westminster Abbey, London, England – One of the symbols of London is Westminster Abbey. A large Gothic church on the west side of the Palace of Westminster. It is one of the most famous religious buildings in the UK, built in the 10th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
6. St. Paul's Cathedral London England - Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London, sits on the top of a hill at the highest point in London. The original church on the site dates back to 604 AD and was dedicated to the apostle Paul. The current church was built at the end of the 17th century and bears the same name as its predecessor.
7. Church of the Nativity of The Bethlehem Palestinian Territory – The Cathedral in Bethlehem. Originally commissioned by Constantine and his mother Helena in 327 AD, the church is a World Heritage Site.
8. Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem Israel The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, or Church of the Resurrection. The site is located on Golgotha, where Jesus is believed to have been crucified and is said to have been buried. For many Christians, the site is the most important pilgrimage destination, even before the 4th century. The church is one of the best attractions in Jerusalem.
9. St. Mark's Basilica, Venice, Italy – Venice's most famous church, built in 1650, is one of the most famous examples of Byzantine architecture. It is one of the symbols of the city and a destination for every tourist in Venice.
10. Istanbul, Turkey Hagia Sophia – the former Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Church, later the Royal Mosque, and now the Museum. Built from 537 until 1453, it was the seat of the Orthodox Cathedral and the Patriarch of Constantinople, but between 1204 and 1261 it was converted into a Roman Catholic cathedral under the rule of the Latin Empire. The building was a mosque from 1453 to 1931. It was then secularized and in 1935 converted into a museum, which remains to this day.
