The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet will take off for the first time on November 18, 1978. Traditional Hornets include A/B/C and D modifications, while newer and larger Super Hornets eventually replace them.

The current demonstration aircraft is the F/A-18 Hornet fighter-attack aircraft replaced in 1986. In addition to the regular demonstration aircraft, the Blue Angels also have a C-130T "Hercules" transport aircraft nicknamed "Fat Albert", which was used in 1970 in addition to the usual transportation of support personnel and equipment, but also participates in some performance projects such as short takeoffs and landings.
