The life of an elephant man

author:Cocoa Observer

None of us are perfect, but we are treated well because of our good hearts.

The other day, I downloaded an English reading software. The interface is clean, and the books are classified according to the beginner, intermediate and high English reading level. Many of the books in the beginner are simplified and easy to read without losing the essence of the article. It was here that I read John Merrick's The Elephant Man.

1. Synopsis of the story

In a shop, a photograph of a person half normal, half elephant-like, skin crumpled, thickly stacked together, unable to see the normal appearance of the face, arms thick as elephants. He was locked up in the back of the small black room by the shopkeeper, except for a table and a chair, and the whole room was black and emitted a suffocating stench. The boss put the photo in the window and showed the elephant man to the world in order to get some money for his own use.

There was Dr. Frederick at a nearby London hospital who found the photograph that day before passing by the shop. Looking at this inhuman "monster" in the photo aroused the doctor's strong interest, which later turned into anger and fear.

The doctor negotiates with the boss and takes the elephant back to the hospital. He consulted with the leaders and wrote letters to the newspaper to raise funds for the elephants to make a home in the hospital. But people were afraid of him. Although he loved to read and didn't talk much, his ugly appearance was already prohibitive. The nurses who took care of him, no one but Dr. Frederick, looked at him.

The Elephant Man was so dismayed that since the accident, the police had called the doctor with the business card they had given the Elephant Man and were placed to live in John's Hospital. Although he has a stable home, he cannot live a normal life with people, and the attitude of the people around him deeply stung the hearts of elephant people. He wanted to leave and live in the lighthouse.

The doctor again asked the leader to write a letter to the newspaper, and this time even the queen came to see him. Gradually, the elephant man became happy, happy from the heart.

Second, the appearance and the soul are always on the road

People, not always perfect. Even if some people's appearance is no longer picky, they still have to pursue a more beautiful appearance, but it will cause irreparable losses. Such a loss is not to be said compared to the loss of money, because the mind is not full of such obsession.

The boss laughed at him with a human-like gimmick, despised him, locked him in a dark room, attracted people to come to see him, and used him to make money. Talking, smiling unashamedly, proud of the business opportunities he found. Step humanity at the feet of money. Such a businessman is too ruthless.

If the doctor hadn't seen it and decided to save the elephant man, I really don't know what it would be like to be tortured by the boss.

What mistake did the poor elephant man make? Because of his ugly appearance, he was watched. I can't help but find that he behaves very much like us in life, being talked about, being pointed out, becoming cowering, sensitive and withdrawn. Instead of asking us to communicate with people, we should go to the lighthouse and be with the sea, where at least the ear roots are clean.

But the elephant man was lucky, and his misfortune evoked the mercy of the doctor, but it can also be said that the doctor's kind heart saved a soul.

No one knows what you've been through in life, and no one has the heart to ask how life whips you to progress. We would back down, back down again and again, until we tied ourselves up and didn't even know why. Then he confessed his fate. It's a pity.

Third, the flowers that should be in bloom should not wither

There is a very interesting description in the book that the elephant man loves to read very much, and books are his best companions. Books that the crowd failed to give compensated for some of the scars.

It's extremely cute. Who cares about reading a book or not when they are useless and just want to escape? Still wondering if the protagonists on the stage play are living happily together? Do you still worry about whether you have brought trouble and trouble to the doctor?

And it was he, known as the monster, who gave everyone a wake-up call. Maybe there aren't so many people in life who really care about themselves, and their concern may come from self-expression, or they may seek attention for bo, or they may have some kind of subconscious stimulation. But we can't give up on ourselves.

If someone has helped you in the darkest hour, seize this opportunity. Those kindnesses should not be betrayed.

If you succeed in getting up from the mud, look at the past and move on.

If you are not brave enough and timid, give yourself some more time to read and communicate.

Believe that your kindness is the brightest star in the night sky.
