Patricia herself was an actress who starred in Hitchcock's film The Train Freak. In the decades after Hitchcock's death, Patricia has been pushing for the development of her father's work.
Patricia's daughter, Tere Carrubba, confirmed Wednesday that Patricia died in her sleep monday (9th) at her home in Thousand Oaks, California.
"Mother Patricia was always very good at protecting my grandparents' legacy and making sure they are remembered forever," Carruba said. Now that they're all gone, it's kind of like the end of an era. ”
Born in London, England in 1928, Patricia spent most of her life in the family business. Hitchcock directed classics such as 39 Steps, The Vanishing Lady and Shadow of Doubt during her childhood.
Hitchcock moved to California after signing several film deals with producer David Selznick, and eventually became a world-renowned "master of suspense films". Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville Hitchcock, was his right-hand man, working as a film editor and helping to review Hitchcock's story ideas and scripts.
Patricia showed interest in theatre from an early age and was admitted to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London at the age of 19. Before graduating, she starred in a role in her father's new film, Train Freak.
Patricia later married Joseph O'Connell, who married for more than 40 years with three children, and O'Connell died in 1994.
