The film is named after the Father

The film tells the story of Gary Conlen, a thief who does not know the depths and inadvertently offends the local government. He then fled to England, where he was framed by the police as a criminal and sentenced to life in prison. His father, in order to save his son, was also imprisoned. It took many years for a British female lawyer to clear the consonants of the crime.
