Party History in the Song: The Story of Spring
In 1992, on the spring when Comrade Deng Xiaoping inspected the south and delivered a speech on the south, Jiang Kairu, former vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Mulin County, Heilongjiang, went south to Shenzhen and was shocked by the modern urban landscape of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, and was even more moved by the achievements made in establishing a special economic zone and expanding opening up to the outside world. Soon, composer Wang Yougui composed the lyrics into a female solo song. This is the earliest "Story of Spring".
A few years later, Ye Xuquan, deputy director of the Shenzhen Water Supply Bureau and member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Federation, changed the structure, intention and rhetoric of the lyrics, which is the "Story of Spring" that we hear now. The song was sung all over the country in 1997 due to the broadcast of the large-scale documentary "Deng Xiaoping", won the gold medal of the second CCTV Music and Television Competition in 1994, won the sixth "Five One Project Award" of the Central Propaganda Department in 1995, and was selected as "Singing China" in 2019 - the top ten songs of the most beautiful city music business card.
Based on the common structural framework of starting, bearing, turning and closing in traditional music in China, the song forms four paragraphs that are juxtaposed but progressively advanced, and this musical development method skillfully corresponds to the scene of china's reform and opening up steadily advancing and gradually. The mood of the music changes from intimate and moving, gradually into grandeur, and then to the intestines, showing the magnificent scene of Vientiane renewal and the vigorous atmosphere of the times. Based on the "spring" with the meaning of the recovery of all things and the thousands of meteorological meanings, the song narrates and praises the great achievements of reform and opening up, and praises the great achievements of the people's leader Comrade Deng Xiaoping.
