Million Dollar and the Bitter Worm Girl is a 121-minute comedy film produced and distributed by Nichiren Pictures in Japan. Written and directed by Yuki Tanada and starring Yu Aoi, Mirai Moriyama, Pierre Taki, Keinosuke Takeki, and Takanari Saito, the film was released in Japan on July 19, 2008.

Suzuko Sato (Yu Aoi), 21 years old, has no skill certificate, no specialty, and no friends. After graduating from junior college, Suzuko did not find a fixed job, she lived in her parents' house, and usually did some odd jobs. Obviously, others were at fault first, but in order to punish others' mistakes, Reiko sent herself to a labor camp, so her life became a mess.
The introverted but stubborn Suzuko has a conflict with her family, and she announces that she will move out to live alone when she earns a million. So she began to drift away from the story of different, unfamiliar cities.
When the money on the passbook finally had a million, Suzuko dragged her suitcase and left the house. She came to the beach and made shaved ice at the beach kiosk. The boy he met at the beach obviously liked Reiko, but his mouth insisted that he was just playing, and he could only watch Reiko leave helplessly.
She came to the mountains to help the growers pick peaches. Originally, life in the mountains was simple and simple, but when the people in the mountains learned that Suzuko had experienced a labor camp, they still had some opinions about her.
Suzuko eventually left the mountain and continued on to the next stop.
She came to the city, looking for a new beginning in a strange place.
Suzuko traveled from place to place and met many kind people, she did not know how to get along with the people close to her, and every million saved, she began the journey again. Soon, the deposit will reach the target again.
However, Suzuko meets university student Nakajima (Mirai Moriyama). She fell in love with the gentle Nakajima. Love makes Suzuko stop running in all directions, and at the same time take a decisive step on the road to growth.
However, Nakajima obviously did not want Reiko to leave before repeatedly asking Suzuko to borrow money, but he did not explain it clearly and caused Reiko's misunderstanding, so the two missed it on the road of life.
On the way out, Nakajima hurriedly came looking for her again, but in the end she missed it.
As Suzuko says in the film, "I'm running away." Wherever you go, there is no shelter. ”
Sometimes, it is a kind of courage to decide to leave resolutely, but it is not an escape. Sometimes we think we're brave, but instead isolate ourselves from the outside world. Behind our pretending to be brave, we actually don't know how to express ourselves.
