The 59-year-old is a senior police chief of the fourth level of the 20th team of the Huanggang Border Inspection Station of the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, who joined the work in 1980 and has been in the party for 38 years. He was the builder of the old Huanggang port and a witness to Comrade Deng Xiaoping's southern tour.

In November 1989, Xie Yuanhuai was ordered to be transferred from the then Guangzhou Border Inspection Station to the Huanggang Border Inspection Station to participate in the construction of the Huanggang Port. At that time, the Shenzhen Special Administrative Region had just opened the door of reform and opening up, and there were hundreds of industries to be revitalized, and everything was waiting to be done, which was very different from today.
Recalling the difficulty of starting a business, Xie Yuanhuai sighed: "The conditions in the early stage of building the station are extremely poor, it can be said that there is no land, no room, no funds, no establishment. The office is a room borrowed from the former Shenzhen border inspection station, the personnel are drawn from the provincial border defense system, and the living is a temporary shed set up in Gangxia Village, and everyone has to squat on the open space outside the house with rice bowls when eating... It's not easy! ”
Although the working conditions at that time were extremely simple and the living environment was particularly difficult, Xie Yuanhuai quickly threw himself into the arduous preparatory work. In addition to studying and training, in order to complete the construction of the port as soon as possible, he took the initiative to actively participate with his colleagues in the voluntary labor of laying floor tiles and cleaning the port sanitation.
The sweat did not flow in vain, and the port gradually took shape from scratch. On December 29, 1989, Huanggang Port, the largest land transportation port in Asia, was escorted by the first batch of border inspectors and officers, and successfully opened the gate and passed the first Hong Kong truck. At that historic moment, Xie Yuanhuai was in tears of excitement in the team!
On January 19, 1992, Comrade Deng Xiaoping inspected Shenzhen in the south, and the first stop was the Huanggang Port. Xie Yuanhuai, who was in charge of photography at the Huanggang Border Inspection Station at that time, had the honor of taking many precious photos with him. Recalling the inspection on the same day, he still remembers it vividly: "Comrade Xiaoping appeared in front of us with the support of his daughter Deng Rong. Although he is 88 years old, although the temperature is very low and the wind on the bridge is very harsh, the old man's spirit is particularly good, and he keeps waving to people. Comrade Xiaoping stood on the bridge deck of Lok Ma Chau, facing north, looking out at the panoramic view of Shenzhen City and Huanggang Port. Then, turning around and walking slowly south along the bridge, near 10 meters from the shenzhen-Hong Kong demarcation line, he stopped and set his sights on the land across the river from the mainland. He stared at Hong Kong at the head of the bridge for eight or nine minutes, and the look in his eyes is still unforgettable. ”

More than 30 years of time rushed by, Xie Yuanhuai was stationed at the Huanggang Port, witnessed the take-off of Shenzhen, and also stepped from the spirited youth to the year of the two sideburns and frosts.
From the political office officer to the brigade inspection post on duty, from technical maintenance to cargo inspection, he has always adhered to the Huanggang port for decades, scrupulously fulfilled his duties, and measured with his feet the gate of the southern Xinjiang country that he personally built, personally experienced, and personally forged.
