#Today's Listening Disc #Wei Ruxuan's "Crazy Flowers at the End"

Let's revisit Wei Ruxuan's old album that is not too old, but it is also almost five years ago's "The End of the Road".

Released in 2016, "The End of the Road" received a total of four important nominations at the 28th Taiwan Golden Melody Awards the following year. However, the "Best Chinese Album" lost to "Mayday's" "Autobiography", the "Best Composer" lost to Huang Jianwei's "Centrifugal Force", the "Best Album Producer" (Chen Jianqi) lost to Ah Bang's "Vavayan Woman" (Arai Eleven), and the most important "Best Chinese Female Singer" lost to Ai Yiliang's "Say Ai Yiliang". That is to say, this album is mentioned four times and four times, but it is not received.

I don't know the best voting results of the "Golden Melody Award" that year, I always feel that the votes of Wei Ruxuan and Ai Yiliang should not be much worse, and from the point of view of the shortlisting situation that year, these two singers are the two most capable of playing.

And my resentment is also because of this year's "best Chinese album", I have to say, or because of some reasons other than music, it finally led to a not-so-optimal result. Of course, I am not saying that "The End of the Road" lost unjustly, I am talking about Guo Ding's "Execution Cycle of the Aircraft", which really deserves to win. Even now, this album can be called the benchmark album of Chinese pop music from 2011 to 2020.

Don't ask me why "Mayday's" "Autobiography" is not as good as "The Execution Cycle of Aircraft". Ask, you're all right!

I don't know if "You, You" is the most out-of-the-loop work of this album in terms of traffic and spread rate, at least for me, "You, You" is my entry brick for this album, the kind of song that can buy a record for a song.

"You, You" is a folk song with an indie temperament, no matter how it is interpreted and analyzed, the most important thing is that this song is based on a very beautiful melody. I've always felt that no matter what style of work, even if it's experimental music, the lack of a good melody of the main line, that is a hooligan.

In the melody of one breath, "You, You" combines Hokkien and "alien language", making a song with an uncomplicated arrangement also appear to be layered. Another point is that "You, You" still belongs to that kind of personality composition, that is, Wei Ruxuan actually integrates her tone and tone in the composition of the melody, and a lot of vocal habits when she sings, so that the work has the brand of the creator himself, and it is difficult to be imitated. For example, if you want to deal with it like a general ballad, it will seem too peaceful, but if you follow Wei Ruxuan's style, it is easy to appear to be dong shi gong.

However, Xing Hanming's cover song in the 2019 "The Voice of China" program is still on the right side of the road, which is also the best cover version of the song I have ever heard. Although, listening back to the version of waa, I still feel that there is a little meaning missing.

The good sound of "You, You" lies in the arrangement and guitar performance - Dong Yunchang. Arrangement is still very important for the success or failure of a song.

As for the cover version of the "Lao Wang" band in the TME "Homecoming" series "Chinese Golden Song 10 20 30", in fact, it is no longer a song with Wei Ruxuan's "You, You". Privately, I thought it was very "Lao Wang", but the original taste of the song was gone...

As for the album "The End of the Road", I personally feel that it is not unified and thorough enough in the implementation of the concept. Especially the first half and the second half, it feels a little split. In terms of musical text, Wei Ruxuan's own lyrics are still more suitable for themselves than Li Zhuoxiong, and if they run through the whole specialty, it is even better. Li Zhuoxiong is suitable for Karen Mok, but not necessarily for Wei Ruxuan.

In fact, when it comes to the doll Wei Ruxuan, no matter how personality her creation and interpretation are, the musical style that she has slowly formed after the development of solo over the years is actually inseparable from the team behind it. Especially Chen Jianqi, who is often mentioned, and Han Likang, who is not often mentioned.

Chen Jianqi has indeed dominated Wei Ruxuan's musical trend in recent years, leading to... There are even complaints that Chen Jianqi has taken the waa out of the way. Indeed, not only Wei Ruxuan, Chen Jianqi has also dominated the aesthetic of Taiwan's mainstream pop music in recent years, that is, the fusion of popular music that vaguely maintains traditional ballet and then integrates multiple systems such as pop electronics, retro rock, and independent music on this basis. It maintains the creativity and texture of the music without losing its popularity.

After Han Likang also worked with Chen Junhao and Huang Wenxuan, he established "Fulu Shou Music", and this year's "Five People" highly acclaimed album "Luck Comes If There Is Nothing", that is, they recorded it in Yilan with the opening tape, the recording and production are quite good, it is recommended that everyone go out and turn left to listen to it.

Chen Jianqi, Chen Junhao... It has also slowly become the behind-the-scenes core of Taiwanese pop music in this era, and the era has turned from lin mike, Zhong Xingmin, and Hong Jingyao to musicians of the generation. Don't say that the times are always getting worse and worse, good music is always left in yesterday, as long as the times are still rolling, it is not bad, the better will always be ahead. The end of the road can still be wild flowers, not to mention the end of the road!
