After watching this movie, the change in Selma's image impressed me the most, and the change in costumes reflected her growth path.
From the scruffy housewife outfit to the long white and clean dress, to the denim outfit when robbing a convenience store, to the sleeveless skull top when shooting the tanker truck, it can be seen that Selma has grown from a small woman to an independent person. Selma appears as a slightly sloppy figure who takes care of herself early in the morning in order to make breakfast for her husband. When talking to her husband, she whispered, and did not dare to say in front of her husband that she was going to travel.
On the way to the trip, Selma meets Harlan who almost raped her and Jody cowboy, who once again makes her heartbroken, a man who wakes up Selma, who steals Selma and Luis's escape fund, Louis collapses and cries when he learns of it, but Selma is very calm.
Thelma is ignorant and fearless in her ensuing journey: robbing convenience stores with weapons in order to pay for the journey, threatening the police with a gun when Louis is detained by the police, shooting his tanker truck in retaliation for the driver who had previously spoken foul to them... The strong and brave character that Selma acquired on the road obviously pushed her step by step onto a path that could not be turned back, but for her it was not a fall into the abyss, but a wonderful journey to pursue an independent and free personality.
