Walking into the Union Village of Haibin Street in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, there is always an illusion of being in the city. But no one could have imagined that this deserted village, which was once saline and alkaline and had a harsh environment, has now become a well-known "well-off village".

Adjacent to the Dagang Oilfield, Union Village has 38 industrial enterprises, more than 80 individual industrial and commercial households, and more than 2,000 migrant workers. In the process of rural revitalization, The Alliance Village has adapted to local conditions, tapped resources, and embarked on a road of industrial prosperity.

In the summer and autumn season, a special guest came to the Union Village. Han Maoyu, a Nigerian international student, walked in with his research project on rural development in China.

Playing basketball, practicing tai chi, going into the factory... Han Maoyu, a foreign guy, soon mingled with the enthusiastic Alliance villagers. From this, he also deeply understood how the Union Village, which was carved out of the saline-alkali wasteland, achieved today's development results.

The land is seriously salinized and the income from farming is low. The alliance village will transfer the land in the hands of the peasants to the village collective, and the village collective will centrally manage it and develop a large-scale aquaculture industry. In addition, Lianhe Village has also taken the village as a game and the enterprise as a chess piece to develop oilfield characteristic industries, allowing villagers to enter factories and work as workers, which not only solves the problem of local employment, but also continuously attracts migrant workers.

The villagers' pockets have swelled, and the village collective's confidence has also been lost. In 2020, Lianhe Village invested more than 30 million yuan to improve the living environment. Rain and sewage diversion, sanitary toilets, garbage sorting... Union Village has taken the lead in taking the step of rural urbanization.

Han Maoyu, who knew all this, called out the magic without sighing: "I deeply feel the warm character and simple folk style of tianjin villagers. I intend to introduce the story of China's rural revitalization to Nigeria and many developing countries through academic writing. ”

The villagers of Union Village may not have imagined that their stories of struggle would spread overseas. But China's rural revitalization will certainly provide courage, experience and strength for more people on this blue planet to get rid of poverty.
