Lost in the world, the world's loneliest gray whale reappears in the Mediterranean

author:Bright Net

On May 6, French scientists spotted a rare, lost gray whale off the Coast of the Mediterranean and named it "Wally." The gray whale's natural habitat is on the east coast of the Pacific Ocean, and scientists speculate that the grey whale appeared in the Mediterranean Sea, most likely due to the melting of Arctic ice due to global warming. At present, "Wally" is sailing west along the southern coast of France at a speed of 80-90 kilometers per day, about to reach the Spanish coast. Gray whales have been extinct in the North Atlantic since the 18th century, and the only two remaining populations of gray whales live on the west and east sides of the Pacific Ocean, respectively. In 2010, a gray whale also got lost in the Mediterranean Sea and was then called "the loneliest gray whale in the world".
