Leo's contract extension talks are not going well, with AC Milan likely to restructure their forward line next summer.

Portugal international Rafael Leo is at a crucial stage in contract extension talks with AC Milan and his future is sure to have a clear answer ahead of next summer. There are only two options left for the 23-year-old attacker, to reach a contract extension with the Rossoneri after a proper salary increase, or to move to another team for a hefty transfer fee before entering his contract.

If Leo still hasn't completed his contract extension by next summer, AC Milan management will turn back and choose to put him on the transfer market, and they don't want the likes of Donnarumma and Kessie in him again. Big-pocketed giants such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain could all be his future next home, with players estimated to be priced at as much as 100 million to 150 million euros. However, given the team's results and tactical consistency this season, Maldini and Marsala would not consider letting players leave in the winter window.

Once Leo leaves, the Rossoneri will also use the transfer revenue to complete the reshuffling of the forward line, and they will invest in bringing in young players with plenty of potential, as have the likes of Tonali and De Ketrare, who have focused on investing in the past two seasons.

Italian rookie Scamarca is an option, as AC Milan had been closely following the movement of his players before moving to Premier League side West Ham United and have not given up on their efforts either. Chelsea's Broja and Red Bull Salzburg's Okafor are also favourites on the transfer lists for Maldini and Marsala, both of whom have been under long-term scrutiny.

At the same time, however, while the Rossoneri's main squad is centred on promising young talent, experienced veterans such as Ibrahimovic, Kjaer and Giroud will be signed as appropriate, providing young people with role models to follow. With the right forward options, Pioli's side won't miss out either.
