My impression of Raphael, like many, stems from his most famous statue of the Virgin. The Western slang phrase "like Raphael's Madonna" is the supreme praise for a woman's beauty, which is undoubtedly one of the proofs of her wonderful painting skills.

Raphael's Madonna does not have such a strong circle of God, but is full of affinity. Soft facial lines, glowing cheeks, plump neck, down-looking eyes—he presents a woman of serenity who seems to be untouched by the world. She has the shyness and demure of a woman, as well as the sense of tolerance added by motherhood.

I think his expression of the "humanization" of the Virgin Mary is bold and subtle for that era, and at the same time directly captures the core of the image - the unity of motherhood and divinity. This kind of expression makes people feel the role of spiritual lifting at all times, which is very warm and bright.

In paintings such as "Madonna in the Field" and "Madonna and the Golden Oriole", another distinctive feature lies in the harmony of the composition and the roundness of the lines. Coupled with the overall warm tones and the vivid contrast of the colors, the painting gives people a strong sense of brightness, not greasy or kitsch, it is a fresh and bright impression.

If you look closely, you will find that the variety and playfulness of the characters' expressions is also one of the factors that make the atmosphere of the painting bright and lively. Whether it is the Virgin, Jesus or other saints, the expressions of the characters are not at all like the sluggish and serious in the medieval style, but lively and natural, innocent and holy, full of free and humanistic atmosphere.

I think Raphael's expression of a human God, the harmony of God's transcendence and human worldliness, as well as the vigorous youth and strong sense of reality, are the most moving. Perhaps this is my initial perception of Raphael's "brightness".
