Insect name, for homoptera, shield borer family. Distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shandong and other regions. It mainly harms flowers and trees such as cloves, begonias, roses, camellias and so on. Nymphs and adults suck on the stems as a pest, and in severe cases, the stems are covered with shells, resulting in poor plant growth and even inability to flower, drying and dying.
It is shaped like an oyster, hence its name.
