Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

author:Animal world

Cough cough, I finally got up again to update. Speaking of which, it has been more than a month since the last issue. In fact, it is really not that I am lazy, mainly because the lion's head is more complicated than imagined, especially its complex facial features, which should be said to be the most complex in the goldfish series I have drawn. But no matter how complicated it is, it is difficult for me, roaring, roaring, coughing, low-key, low-key...

In fact, another reason why there has been no update recently is that I caught up with the final exam of my girlfriend a few days ago. Although it is only in the first grade, it is also a variety of pre-test raids and mock examination papers. Of course, it is more difficult for children to learn now than when we were young, and the difficulty of the first grade language is equivalent to the difficulty of the third grade when we were young. As a post-80s parent, watching my child still make a roll at night, in fact, it is still very painful, as if I can see the shadow of my childhood...

Well, let's go back to the goldfish, and today I'm going to talk about the lion's head!

Certainly not the lion's head that ate...

In the history of Chinese goldfish, the lion's head should be regarded as a handle-like existence, and its popularity is so high that it can be compared with it, and I am afraid that it is only the dragon's eye. As a business card variety of goldfish, the history of lion's head is actually quite long. The earliest can be traced back to the Qing Daoguang period around 1848 AD, when there was a miscellaneous family named Yao Yuanzhi, who compiled a collection called "Bamboo Leaf Pavilion Miscellaneous Records", which included an independent article, the author was called Bao Kui, and this article was the "Goldfish Breeding Method". This article is the first to record the two varieties of "Ink Dragon Eye" and "Lion Head". The lion's head is what we now call the lion's head.

There is a saying that the lion's head goldfish evolved from the high-headed goldfish, mainly based on the fact that the sarcoma on the head of the lion's head goldfish is more plump, and in addition to the top of the head, the face and cheeks are also full of tumor-like tumors. As we said in the previous issue, this is actually a fluid accumulation in the epidermis layer of the goldfish, which has no practical effect and is not harmful to the fish itself, but this appearance really adds a lot to the lion's head goldfish. Whether it is sideways or upward, it does not affect its viewing effect at all.

Interestingly, the name lion's head goldfish has only been unified in recent decades.

In the past, the division of culture goldfish (with dorsal fin) and egg goldfish (without dorsal fin) was relatively vague, and they were more named through their prominent features, resulting in various confusions about the names of "lion head" and "tiger head". In the north, because the representative of the egg species goldfish is the king character tiger head, it is logical that the lion head of the wen species is called different from the tiger head. But in the south, the head tumor of the egg species goldfish is more developed, so it is called a cat lion, in order to distinguish, the head of the lion of the wen species is called the tiger head... It's a bit like saying whether the tofu brain should put sugar or brine. However, after years of communication and unification among players. In the end, the dorsal fin side finally received the title of lion's head.

However, despite this, according to the different strains raised in each place, the lion's head goldfish has now been refined into three major strains, mainly according to the degree of development of the head tumor: lion head type, tiger head type, and dragon head type. Dragon head type lion head we will talk about the next issue, today first to the lion head type and tiger head sex based on the lion head representative, and share with you ~ ~~

Well, below the image above!

Red Lion's Head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

The red fish will always bear the brunt of the lion's head, the oldest in history. In the south, the lion's head is moderately head-tumored, with a wide tail fin and a stretched body, which is more suitable for side viewing. In the north, the head tumor of the lion's head is more developed, but the body is relatively slender.

White lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

In fact, this is a typical albino/yellowed lion's head goldfish, and its cinnabar eye features expose everything. From the head tumor, it is smaller than the previous red one, so this is a tiger-headed albino lion's head.

Blue Lion Head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

The blue lion's head has always been called the king of the lion's head, and its status is equivalent to the status of the black dragon's eye in the dragon's eye family. This variety was cultivated by Professor Chen Zhen, a famous biologist in China. It was selected from blue-purple species of goldfish between 1966 and 1976. By the way, in the past, there were no blue-purple goldfish, which was also the result of Professor Chen Zhen's cultivation. Yi can be called an important founder of goldfish research and breeding in China's modern history. Nowadays, the history of the development of Chinese goldfish that we have sorted out is also from Professor Chen Zhen's "Goldfish Family History and Factors of Breed Formation", and interested friends can look for it.

Snow green lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

It was once a popular lion's head, but with the change of aesthetics, this kind of light color goldfish is now uncommon

Red and white lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

In ancient times, it was also known as a bunch of snow or jade, and now it is also known as the jade seal lion head, which belongs to the pretty color of the lion's head, and it is rare to get a breed.

Marble lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

This is a new species that has become popular in recent years, belonging to the representative of the soft-scaled goldfish, mainly bred from the head of the five-flowered lion. This pattern can't help but be reminiscent of the marble swallow in the angelfish, and perhaps the cultivator has also felt it from this. Even if I am not too cold to goldfish, I think this outfit is quite good-looking.

Tiger striped lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

Similarly, the tiger lion head is also derived from the five-flowered lion head, and this strain of goldfish is mainly bred by goldfish breeders in southern China and some countries in Southeast Asia. It is said that at first they were just ordinary five-flowered lion heads, because the blue of the five flowers will fade when it meets high temperatures, so in the hot places in the south, this new variety has gradually formed. It's a bit of a heavy color, and I like it.

Sprinkle the lion's head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

Also known as sesame flower, originating from Fuzhou, is a unique species of soft-scaled five-flowered goldfish, which at first glance looks like a moldy yellowed lion's head, but in fact it seems that there is no direct relationship between the two. In addition to the unique pattern, the size of the lion head is also the best among many lion heads, and it is said that it is a breed suitable for breeding in large aquariums.

Short-tailed lion head

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

Also known as yuanbao lion, it is a new variety cultivated by Fuzhou breeders in recent years. It is estimated that due to the influence of Japanese goldfish culture in the past few years, especially the appearance of new upstarts such as Lanshou and Liujin, the aesthetics of ordinary people are also changing. The short-tailed lion's head was supposed to be born to cater to this market. Its main feature is cute! Basically, some of the characteristics of Lanshou and Liujin are taken into account. And the average lion head has a color system, basically a short-tailed lion head also has. So in fact, if you take it out separately as a chapter, you can also draw a lot. However, I will not repeat it here, after all, compared with the normal lion head, the main feature of the short-tailed lion head is that the tail fin is smaller, and the other characteristics are not much different. I don't know the market price geometry, in fact, if you raise a tank to put in the aquarium, it must be very interesting.

Finally, a big group photo

Goldfish Illustrated Book (5) • Lion's Head (Part 1)

As a popular breed at the national level, the lion's head is far more colorful than these I have painted, in addition to the above, such as black, purple, unicorn, ink, and so on. Interested friends can continue to dig on their own.

Well, today we will talk so much, the next issue to talk to you about some foreign breeds of lion head, and new species of goldfish that are similar to lion head goldfish!
