Roshant Anderson, a 27-year-old Briton, is a rough guy at first glance.
He has a cool beard, tattoos all over his body, and gold teeth. But behind such a rough appearance, Roshant's growth history is quite different.
Roshant was born as a girl with no unusual second sexual characteristics.
But his story is not the case with transgender people in general. He was actually an intersex person who was born with a vagina, uterus, ovaries, and testes.

In 2019, Roshant uploaded a video of the naked body on his channel, including the private parts of men after undergoing penileoplasty, revealing his bad experience of being questioned by people around him from childhood to adulthood, and even being asked by the parents of his classmates to expose his body to prove his gender.
He recounted his experiences of discovering being intersex, memories of being bullied at school, and what happened after he started hormones and multiple surgeries.
For the past three years, Roshant has been very open to everyone about the situation of intersex people.
Intersex people, colloquially speaking, are people who have both bisexual chromosomes, secondary sexual characteristics in both men and women, and even people who have both testicles and ovaries.
For Roshant, he felt that he was not the same as the girls around him since he was a child, did not have much breasts when he developed in adolescence, and his voice slowly became thicker.
Roshant has loved sports since childhood, playing football and basketball.
"When I was a kid, I thought I was a girl, but everyone around me said I looked like a kid. I don't like to play with girls and don't understand what they like. ”
As he grew older, because of his more masculine characteristics, Roshant was ridiculed by his female classmates every time he went to the bathroom. Some parents, after learning about it, even put forward an unreasonable request for him to expose his body by lifting his clothes.
When Roshant was 11 years old, he suddenly had severe pain in his abdomen, and his family and he thought that they had some stones, so they sent the child to the hospital for examination.
When the doctor checked, he found that the cause of Roshant's abdominal pain was because of the testicles in his abdomen. It was only after years of doubts between his family and his family that they were slightly solved, and it turned out that Roshant was an intersex person.
Two years later, 13-year-old Roshant decided to live on a male gender, and his parents, especially the mother, firmly supported the child's decision and, for so many years, accompanied the child to every examination and surgery.
Roshant's complete transformation into a man is very long and even painful.
First, he began a lifelong hormonal treatment at the age of 18, taking or injecting testosterone to make his secondary sexual characteristics more pronounced.
He said in an interview this year that although the drug gave him male secondary sexual characteristics, it also gave him a feeling of irritability after menopause in women, and the emotions were unbearable as soon as they came up.
In addition to the side effects of hormonal drugs, the second step Roshant underwent was to undergo gender reassignment surgery, as well as penile plasty. And because of the complexity of the human body, and because Roshant's development was not stereotyped at the beginning, the doctor did not solve all his problems "at once", but gradually, step by step, to realize his dream of becoming a boy.
From the age of 13 to 27, over a period of 14 years, Roshant has undergone as many as 5 surgeries and will undergo a sixth this year, costing nearly £80,000 (about 650,000 yuan).
Roshant's first surgery was to remove a female-like breast at the age of 18. After the operation, the results were not ideal, and there was something wrong with his nipples, so he developed the habit of tattooing to cover his scars.
Since then, he has performed three consecutive penile implants in 2017 and 2018. Because of the need to "make something out of nothing", the doctor took the skin on Roshant's forearm, recreated Tintin for him in a way similar to the picture below, and "assembled" him after the fourth and fifth surgeries in 2019 and 2021.
In five surgeries, doctors first took a large amount of grafted skin from Roshant's left forearm, and then rolled these skins into the shape of a genital and fixed it in the direction of his lower body.
The doctor then performed urethral extension surgery, transplanting nerves and blood vessels into the skin of the artificial penis, followed by re-imaging the penis head.
After the penis is formed, the doctor places a catheter in the newly extended urethra. The multi-step and surgical reconstruction was only the first step, and in order to allow Roshante to have a normal sex life, the doctor also installed a prosthesis for him.
Roshant admitted that the recovery period between surgery and postoperative surgery is quite long, and there are also quite painful times: "It is possible to do this operation, the effect is not ideal, and it must be rebuilt." Or the doctor asked me to take two years off to wait for the effect, and I always went in and out of the clinic. ”
However, after these physical and mental trials, Roshant became more calm. He said that because of the discrimination, hormones and surgical pain experienced from childhood to adulthood, it felt like a person had become a team:
"I've never been in contact with another person in the same situation as me, so that's why I decided to speak out and let friends with similar situations know that there's another person in the world who's in the same situation."

In 2021, Roshant told reporters while waiting for the fifth "vertical tintin" operation that he was looking forward to the final effect and hoped that he could no longer rely on external forces and have a natural erection. This year, he will also undergo a sixth surgery.
Because of the public voices of the past three years, Roshante has received many private messages, some people have told him about his pain, and some have thanked him for creating a community where he can find his kind.

According to Roshant revealed in an interview last week, because he wanted to have children, he did his best to preserve the function of the ovaries before becoming a complete male, and performed artificial ovulation induction and artificial insemination (it is not disclosed who the sperm is). That is, the daughter was born through his eggs, not his sperm...
