Gaza, 7 Aug (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (Jerhad) issued a statement on the evening of 7 August, announcing a ceasefire agreement with Israel.

In his statement, Jerhard said the group agreed to a ceasefire agreement with Israel with the active good offices of Egypt. Egypt pledged to work to persuade Israel to release the two hostages of Jerhad.
Palestinian media quoted Jahad official Khalid Batsh as reporting that the ceasefire agreement will officially enter into force at 23:30 local time on the 7th.

Israeli warplanes launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip on the 5th, hitting many targets in Jerhad, killing 10 Palestinians and injuring dozens of others. Jerhard then fired rockets at Israel in retaliation. The United Nations and Egypt conducted emergency good offices with the parties to the conflict on the 5th to end the tension in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Gaza Strip health department, the three-day Palestinian-Israeli conflict has killed 43 people and injured more than 300 people.
