The Liverpool Trident ultimately evolved, and Nunez would become the new Lewandowski under Klopp

Uruguay's 22-year-old striker Darwin Nunez has officially joined Liverpool, becoming the Reds' first major signing this summer and the best response to the old rival Manchester City's purchase of Haaland. Liverpool's Echo described Klopp as turning Nunez into the new Lewandowski and allowing the Reds forward line to evolve again.

Liverpool announced last night local time that they have signed a long contract with Núñez and the Uruguayan striker will wear the number 27 shirt. Liverpool had earlier struck an agreement with Benfica to set a transfer fee of £64.1 million (€75 million), a potential additional £12.8 million (€15 million) to the terms of the number of appearances, and a potential prize fund of £8.5 million (€10 million) for a team to win the championship, with a total value of up to £85.4 million (€100 million).

He arrived in England on Monday for the first part of the physical test and the rest on Tuesday.

Since Klopp took over from Liverpool in October 2015, he has been following a 4-3-3, high-pressing main attacking style, allowing the team to carry a steady stream of goals without a full-fledged center forward. Firmino, who originally played the role, was an attacking midfielder with Salah and Mane around him, and his role was more of a tandem and organization of the attack than the last foot. Sturridge was one of the team's few pure shooters before leaving, his injured players did not bother the starters much, and Origi, who left the team this summer, has been in the reserve.

Mane's pre-eminent departure and Salah's delay in renewing his contract forced the Reds' offensive mode to change in advance. The Echo pointed out that Klopp is likely to promote Nunez to a world-class striker, as he used to coach Levan at Dort.

The Polish striker joined Dortmund in his first season in 2010, scoring just nine goals in 43 games, and was carefully guided by Klopp, and then scored 94 goals in three seasons, not to mention 344 goals in 375 games after joining Bayern, ranking one of the best in history. Levan once said: Klopp released my shooter instinct. I didn't know I still had so much potential within myself, and he saw something that even I couldn't see.

"He taught me a lot of things. When I first joined Dormont, I was eager to do everything right away: touch the ball and pass it vigorously. Klopp taught me to be calm and touch the ball twice before passing the ball if necessary. It was completely against my instincts, but soon I scored a lot of goals. ”

After facing Benfica in the second leg of Liverpool's Champions League quarter-finals, Klopp praised Núñez, believing that the German boss must see his potential. Nunez exploded in the 2021/22 season, scoring 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica in all competitions, including one goal in each of the two legs against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals.
