Dozens of penguin pups starved to death on the beach because the temperature was too high.
Along the New Zealand coastline, local residents have found a large number of dead penguin pups.
But these penguin pups experience hypothermia.
What's going on?
This penguin, called the Little Blue Penguin, is the only penguin with blue feathers and is indigo on its head, back, and outside of its fins. The little blue penguin is the smallest of the penguin family.
Due to the rising sea temperature along the coast of New Zealand, resulting in a sharp decrease in the number of aquatic animals near the shore, penguin parents need to go to the wider sea to find food, and penguin cubs are too weak and lack of endurance to follow their parents' actions, so that the big penguins cannot come back in time to feed their children, the cubs are hungry for bones, there is very little fat, they can't withstand the cold at night, they are hungry and frozen, and they die tragically.
The natural enemies of the little blue penguins are rats, ferrets and weasels, etc., and now coupled with the warming climate, this may hit the penguin population even harder.
