One day in 1987, a martyr identified by the organization as having already died in the Battle of Kinmen suddenly returned from Taiwan to his dreamed hometown in Shandong, where he had been separated for decades. At this time, his youth has long faded, and now he is a white-haired old man.
However, in his hometown in Shandong, he also kept a revolutionary martyr's certificate signed by the great man himself. So, who is this old man? Wasn't he already killed in the Battle of Kinmen? Why is it suddenly back?
It turned out that this old Taiwanese man's name was Yu Xiju, and he was once a soldier in the People's Liberation Army. If he hadn't participated in the Battle of Kinmen, he might have been a hero or general of the People's Liberation Army and could have returned to his hometown with honor. If he truly sacrificed himself on the battlefield of the Battle of Kinmen, then he is a veritable martyr of the People's Liberation Army. However, for these perhaps, he is not.
However, fate made a big joke to the old man in Xiju. In the Battle of Kinmen, although he participated in the famous landing battle, he did not become a hero of the People's Liberation Army, nor did he become a martyr of the People's Liberation Army, in his own words, that is, he was called Gou and stole his life. After being captured in the Battle of Kinmen in 1949, he became a member of the Kuomintang army.
However, in the ensuing 823 artillery battle, Yu Xiju was hit by the artillery fire of the People's Liberation Army and almost lost his life. However, he also made a military achievement and was immediately promoted to non-commissioned officer. Later, he changed his troops to the main island of Taiwan. So, in this way, in Taiwan's treasure island, Yu Xiju survived, and married and had children, and soon decades passed.
However, on November 2, 1987, Yu Xiju waited for a big happy news. This is because Chiang Ching-kuo conformed to the trend of history and announced that the People of Taiwan would be opened up to visit their relatives on the mainland. Immediately, Yu Xiju happily took his wife with him, and with the first wave of people after the lifting of the ban, embarked on a journey back to his hometown in Shandong to visit his relatives. For various reasons, before returning to the mainland to visit his relatives, Yu Xiju never communicated with his relatives in his hometown in Shandong through letters.
Yu Xiju was born in Shandong in 1930 with four brothers. In order to survive, they all went out to earn a living. In 1943, it was also the time when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on the Shandong Peninsula was in full swing. At the age of 13, Yu Xiju left his hometown to join the army.
However, in the 44 years that Yu Xiju left his hometown, the only contact with his family was on July 19, 1949, more than three months before the Battle of Kinmen. At that time, he was a soldier in the third battalion of the Fourth Column Special Regiment of the Third Field Army of the People's Liberation Army, and since then, he has not been heard from and has never contacted his family again.
Later, after Yu Xiju's family inquired through the civil affairs department, they learned that he was listed in the list of participants in the Battle of Kinmen. According to the saying at that time, after the Defeat of the People's Liberation Army in the Battle of Kinmen, all of them were killed, that is to say, he had already become a martyr who sacrificed himself in the Kinmen Battlefield. Then, the two sides of the strait were isolated for decades, the information was blocked, and no one could verify it.
At the same time, Yu Xiju did not know at all that in his hometown in Shandong, he was already a revolutionary martyr who would never die for decades. On that day, when returning to Shandong, Yu Xiju and his wife first flew from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, then flew to Qingdao, and finally spent 800 yuan to charter a van back to their hometown.
When Yu Xiju returned to his hometown, almost the entire village boiled over. Because when the people in the hometown heard that the third elder of the Yu family was still alive and returned with his Daughter-in-law from Taiwan, a large number of villagers from the surrounding ten miles and eight townships came to see the rarity, and immediately surrounded his home.
In particular, when they learned the news of the return of the revolutionary martyrs, even the leaders of the relevant departments in the county specially came to visit, and they also received yu Xiju and his wife to stay in a high-end hotel in the county and set up a banquet. The local officials all said with respect, "Our hero is back."
This made Yu Xiju feel very pleased, believing that the Communist Party had not forgotten that the people who had contributed to the revolution had also made his Taiwanese daughter-in-law feel a glory she had never had before. This was the first time Yu Xiju returned home to visit his family, when his son was only 18 years old and still serving in the Kuomintang army in Taiwan. Due to his special status, he did not return to the mainland with his parents. Later, with the passage of time, Yu Xiju died in Taiwan.
However, when it comes to Yu Xiju's son, older people may know that he is the famous Taiwanese singer Yu Guanhua. Yu Guanhua's good friend Jay Chou has long been a well-known big star on both sides of the strait. Yu Guanhua often follows Jay Chou's team to and from the two sides of the strait, mainly doing some work in front of and behind the scenes.
During a performance on the mainland with his friend Jay Chou, Yu Guanhua met an official in Jinan. With the help of this Jinan official, he learned about his father's situation and re-established contact with people from his hometown in Shandong. Before his death, his father especially told Yu Guanhua that he must often go to his hometown in Shandong to see.
After Yu Guanhua went to his hometown in Shandong to worship his ancestors, the only surviving aunt of his uncle's generation, he personally handed over his father's relics to him. Mainly some of the father's former life certification materials, including two family letters, a resident identity card, and a notice from a missing soldier in Liangshan County, Shandong Province. Because in that year, after Yu Xiju left his hometown, he once joined the Kuomintang army, and later defected to become a member of the People's Liberation Army. On October 24, 1949, after participating in the Battle of Kinmen with his troops, he unfortunately became a soldier of the Kuomintang again.
