The Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks G3 was banned and returned from the game, where he was booed by Warriors fans. Jones started in place of Morant. In the first quarter, Adams quickly completed two dunks, Thompson scored a layup, and the Grizzlies made an 8-2 start. Green and Curry scored on layups, Jones hit three-pointers, Jackson and Anderson hooked up to score, and the Grizzlies led by seven points. Poole and Curry scored on layups, Looney completed dunks and Williams scored five points in a row. Curry hit a layup again. At the end of the first quarter, the Grizzlies led the Warriors 24-20, the Warriors made 0-of-10 from three points and the Grizzlies made 2-of-11 three-pointers.
In the second quarter, Poole scored with a dunk, Jackson made two free throws and Clark hit a shot. Wiggins scored from a layup, Adams completed the dunk after being blocked by Clay, Jones hit a three-pointer and the Grizzlies led by nine points. Thompson hit a layup and Potter hit a three-pointer, the Warriors' first three-pointer of the game, after shooting 0-of-15.
