——Yang Hegao's "Great Qing Prefect" after reading

Zhu Fangquan

One morning, I went to the Propaganda Department of the county party committee to find Director Lu Shuchen, and he gave me a copy of Yang Hegao's long historical novel "The Prefect of the Great Qing Dynasty" and asked me to write a book review after reading it. I thought to myself at the time, book reviews are the exclusive of big coffee, and my ability is limited, so I will write some feelings after reading.

After I came back, I began to take time to read "The Prefect of the Great Qing Dynasty". Just watching the beginning, I was infected by the gripping storyline and the vivid and flexible character image. So, I got up early and went to bed late, and I read this novel with concern. In less than a week, I had read the 240,000-word novel.

Reading the scroll, a word rose in my heart: "Moved"! For a few days, my heart was held by three generations of Lü Youxiang, Lü Changji, and Lü Shishu's grandchildren, until I finished reading the whole book, and I suddenly sighed, admired, and was afraid. I have to say that this is not only the charm of the three generations of prefects, but also the writing skills of Mr. Yang Hegao. His words let me in the process of reading with the ups and downs of the storyline, constantly constructing the interpretation of various scenes in the book, and speculating about the words and deeds and psychological activities of various characters. Mr. Yang Hegao is worthy of being an old writer engaged in drama and literary creation, with rich experience and knowledge, with exquisite design and arrangement, in the intricate cases, ingenious and unique, stripped away the cocoon, to present us with a wonderful drama. I am very amazed by the author's professionalism and writing energy, and being able to write this 240,000-word macro work objectively and truthfully describes the touching deeds of the three generations of The Qing prefect of shuyang Lüshi. The author's ingenious conception and careful thinking make the development of the situation logical, the portrayal of the characters is exquisite, and the control of the inner world of the characters is also informative and thoughtful, and the living historical figures are moved into the work. At the same time, the author also uses powerful brushstrokes to expose the darkness of feudal society, ruthlessly lash out at the greed, selfishness and ruthlessness of human nature, and show us the real historical picture of the feudal dynasty.

The one-word blood book runs through the whole book from beginning to end, which is gripping and fascinating. In the late autumn of the fifty years of the Qing Kangxi Dynasty (1711), Lü Qianbo, a farmer in Lüzhuang, Shuyang, was arrogant in his attitude toward the officials' forcible collection of grain and taxes, and he was angry in his heart and went forward to theorize that he did not want to be beaten by the cool officials and seriously injured. On his deathbed, he tore off the front of his pants, bit his fingers fiercely, and wrote a word on the torn placket with blood. After that, he instructed his wife to lock it in a small nanmu prayer box, and then give the word to the child for future generations to pass on. What exactly is written in this blood book? It was not disclosed at the time, so you can't help but look at it.

In the late spring of the eighth year of Qianlong (1743), Yuan Mei came to Shuyang Renzhi County. He has a discerning eye and becomes a confidant with Lu Youxiang. Lu Youxiang took out the Nanmu locket that was treasured at home and asked Yuan Ming for guidance. Yuan Zhixian carefully wrote this blood letter and asked about the old events of that year. After pondering for a moment, he then put pen to paper and wrote down a piece of precept: "A gentleman establishes the right position in the world and walks the right path of the world, and if he has the ambition, he is the same as the people, and if he is not determined, he walks alone." Rich and noble cannot be adulterous, poor and lowly cannot be moved, and mighty cannot be bent, which is called a big husband. After writing, Yuan Ming handed the paper to Lü Youxiang and asked him to hide the precepts in the box together with his father's blood book, which could be used as a criterion for future generations to be human beings. What is this blood book? It's still a mystery at this point.

Nearly seventy years later, this small wooden locket that collected blood books was passed down from generation to generation in the hands of three generations of grandchildren. It was not until after Lü Shishu's death that when Cheng Shishu was sorting out the relics, he took out the Nanmu locket that had been preserved for several generations in a book box, and then opened the small box, took out the blood book, and told Lü Chuanji:

"This is what the old ancestors left behind, the three generations of grandchildren have always remembered this word, three generations have passed it on from generation to generation, and now that you are the fourth generation, it is time for you to keep this one-word blood book."

At this time, the truth finally came out. It turned out that this one-word blood book written in blood was a "people" word!

Ruling for the people, honesty and honesty, this is the fine family style of the three generations of prefects of the Lü family, and it is also the theme of "The Great Qing Prefect". In the whole book, the three generations of prefects of the Lü clan adhere to the ancestral precepts, are honest and upright, have served the public, and have devoted themselves to the people. When Lü Youxiang was serving as the prefect of Changde in Hunan, he resigned his official post due to overwork and went home to recuperate, and before leaving, a thousand people knelt down to bid farewell to Lü Gong. When Lü Youxiang's son Lü Changji was serving as the prefect of Pingyang and Taiyuan in Shanxi, his father resigned from the government and went home to support his elderly mother and do good deeds, and at the end of his life, the people of Shuyang came out to mourn him in empty alleys. Lü Youxiang's grandson Lü Shishu died of exhaustion while serving as the prefect of Ji'an, Jiangxi, at the age of 36. When his wife and young son returned to their hometown of Shuyang with coffins, the streets of Ji'an City were empty, and the people cried and mourned. Mr. Yang Hegao used his powerful and ingenious brushstrokes to vividly describe the touching deeds of the three generations of The Qing governors of the Lü clan. In the layout of the plot, in accordance with the historical context, it not only reveals the principle of honor and disgrace, but also expounds the way of being an official; it not only tells the risks of the eunuch sea, but also depicts the customs of the world. Let the vivid characters come to life and jump on the paper; let the reader be inspired, educated, and endlessly reminiscent.

Another notable feature of the Prefect of the Great Qing Dynasty is that at the beginning of each chapter, there are a few introductions in front. This is another wonderful writing technique of Mr. Yang Hegao. Among these introductions, some are proverbs, some are famous quotes, some are philosophical quotes, and some are ancient sayings. It is varied and varied, both colorful and timeless to read. These introductions are not only readable, but also very targeted, and can play an outlining and fascinating role in reading the text of this chapter. For example, in the tenth chapter, "Resignation from the Government in the Sickness and Returning to the Beggar, and Farewell to Relatives on the Knees of a Thousand People", the opening introduction is to quote a philosopher: "Life is not a short candle, but a torch that we hold temporarily, and we must burn it very brightly and brilliantly, and then give it to the next generation of people." Such an introduction is quoted appropriately, which fully shows that Lü Youxiang worked for the officials all his life, his health deteriorated, the candles burned out, and he had no choice but to resign and return to the government. Before leaving, he handed over the last burning torch to the next generation, and passed on the good family style of hard work and hard work to his son Lu Changji. No wonder that after the people learned of the news that Lü Youxiang was sick and begging for li, they came to bid farewell one after another, and at one time thousands of people knelt together to send him off, and the officials could not dissuade him if they wanted to.

In "The Prefect of the Great Qing Dynasty", in order to enhance the readability of the work, Mr. Yang Hegao also added some folk sayings at the end of each chapter. For example: the four good sounds, the four ugly; the four white, black, and red; the four sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy; the four great joys, the four fears, the four truths, and so on. These folk sayings, although not much related to the work itself, also have a certain degree of readability, after reading, let people shine and grow insight. Therefore, it has a certain collection value.

In short, after reading this long historical novel by Mr. Yang Hegao, I benefited a lot and was excited. I haven't read a novel like this for a long time, especially after retirement. This novel is about the events of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, and is based on the three generations of diligence and honesty of the Lü clan of Shuyang Lü Youxiang, Lü Changji, and Lü Shishu's grandchildren, showing the family style and traditional culture of the Lü family, but taking history as a mirror, it is also transmitting the positive energy of China's Clean Officials in fighting corruption and advocating honesty, which is also of great educational significance to us today.

Finally, a special poem as a conclusion to this post-reading feeling:

Reading the biography of The Governor of Yang Gong, my heart churned.

A word of blood book passed down for three generations, two sleeves of the breeze tree model.

Bow down to protect the community, and put on liver and guts to solve the people's difficulties.

The Lü family style should be carried forward, and the ancestors should be learned on the road to chasing dreams.
