In 2007, Yang Wenshi found an ancient tree near the Fa Yan Stone Church in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam, which is an ancient eucalyptus tree with a history of more than 300 years, growing on a hill, Yang Wenshi ran four or five times in total, and asked for more than ten times, and the owner of the ancient tree agreed to sell the tree to him.

Some villagers once planned to buy Yang Wenshi's ancient tree for 12 billion Vietnamese yuan, but Yang Wenshi refused in one breath, saying that 12 billion yuan was not worthy of his tree.
In mid-March 2019, Nguyen Van Chi, also in Chang Xin City, Hanoi, bought the ancient tree from Yang Wenshi for 16 billion Vietnamese dollars, which broke the transaction record for Vietnamese bonsai trees.
In 2020, Phan Van Quan, a wealthy businessman from Yue Chi City, Phu Tho Province, Vietnam, said that he would buy the ancient tree in the hands of Nguyen Van Chi, Nguyen Van Chi offered 30 billion yuan, the two bargained for nearly an hour, and finally sold for 28 billion Vietnamese yuan, equivalent to 8.15 million yuan.
At that time, in order to prove the authenticity of the transaction, Pan Wenquan brought the chairman of the Vietnam Changxin County Bonsai Association to the scene and broadcast the whole live, in which Ruan Wenzhi complained to the camera that he really did not want to sell it, because he liked this work to buy it, not intend to sell it.
