Geniac: I don't regret giving up Liverpool in the first place, joining Marseille was my childhood dream

Live Bar March 24 - André Pierre Guiniac, 35, said in an interview that he did not regret giving up on Liverpool because joining Marseille was his childhood dream.

For those who don't pay much attention to Mexican or French football, Geniac may be the one in your mind who could have won Euro 2016 for France. Either way, the striker, who impressed everywhere, is now the world king of the Mexican Tigers, but he once had the chance to join Liverpool with ease.

In an interview with RMC Sport on Tuesday, Guiniac revealed: "I was born in Matisse, 40 kilometres from Marseille. I spent my entire childhood in Marseille. My family is a big fan of Marseille, (that's) my dream... You know, in 2010 I had two contracts in my hands, Marseille and Liverpool, and before that I had turned down Valencia. They sent a plane to bring me ham. I assure you that you will want to take it. They knew they could do it with a little more Iberian ham, but I turned them down anyway. ”

"It was Emery and Matthew at the helm. He came to explain his tactics to me, but I refused them. After that, Christopher Cano (his agent) came and told me: 'Andrey, you have Liverpool or Marseille (you can choose).' I replied: 'Tear up Liverpool's contract, we're going to Marseille.' It's that simple.".

As for whether he regrets the decision, the player replied that he never felt that way because he fulfilled his dream of playing for the club he supported as a child.

While at Marseille, he was also coached by Bielsa for one season. He scored 77 goals in 188 games for Marseille and delivered 13 assists. He scored 148 goals in 254 games for the Tigers.
