A teacher who doesn't leave suspense is not a good teacher.
A good teacher can make you stare blankly, big eyes and small eyes, just like the new teacher is afraid of hearing the class bell, and after class, he is still looking forward to the next class.
So the biggest role of suspense is to make you can't forget him, the heart is always hanging, always reading.
Take Confucius, for example.

Confucius left us with a lot of suspense. One of the most interesting things is the meaning of a word —
Bundles.
"脩" and "修" are homophonous, and the two can be seen as variants.
This word appears in the Analects of Shu'er, and the original text is as follows:
Zi Yue: "I have not been able to tie myself up above, and I have not tasted it." ”
What does "shackles" mean? An understanding that is recognized by many people is dried meat.
To use "dried meat" to explain, it is relatively in line with the grammar norms of the text: "self-determination", that is, "to do something on your own initiative"; "to", is the meaning of "used"; "up" is the meaning of offering and offering.
"Self-restraint" means "you yourself take the initiative to offer me dried meat"; "I have not tasted nothing", that is, "I will never fail to give teachings".
In this way, "bundle" seems to have the meaning of "paying tuition", but it is actually not tuition, but "meeting gift". Confucius attached great importance to etiquette, and it is very impolite for a person to come empty-handed if he wants to worship a teacher.
Yang Hu, a powerful minister who was contemporaneous with Confucius, always wanted to win Confucius out as an official and decorate the façade. But Confucius disdained to be with this person and rejected him very much. Yang Hu played a trick and sent him a roast pig while Confucius was out.
Yang Hu was a Qing doctor, Confucius was a scholar, the doctor gave gifts to the soldiers, according to the etiquette at that time, if the soldiers did not thank at that time, they would go to the door to thank or return the gift.
As long as Confucius returned the salute, Yang Hu found a few horse boys, and created public opinion, Confucius was very passive. So Confucius also played a trick of the heart, taking advantage of the time when Yang Hu was out, to return the gift. Yanghu bamboo basket hit the water empty, gifts sent a lonely.
Confucius attached great importance to etiquette, and the first time students met the teacher, bringing a little greeting gift was a respect for the teacher.
But this kind of meet and greet is not equivalent to tuition. Tuition fees are charged on a semester-by-semester basis, at least by academic year, and there are rules for how much it is per year.
The meet and greet is one-time, how much casual, the key is in the heart, not in the quantity. Some people say that Confucius said that there is a definite number of "shuyi", which is "ten pieces of dried meat", and it is not known where the data came from.
Another understanding is even more interesting. This interpretation holds that "bunching" is not dried meat, but refers to age.
The bundle is the band; the spleen, is the modification. This means that when a child reaches a certain age, he can be "tied", and his hair can be neatly groomed and shiny, and he can come to Confucius as a student.
In this way, the threshold for Confucius to recruit students is not bacon, but age. They are not old enough (usually 15 years old) to attend school.
There is also a reasonableness in this explanation. The only thing that is not reassuring is that it does not conform to the grammar of the text.
According to this interpretation, the "above" of "self-restraint above" is no longer the classical meaning of "used to offer", but is consistent with the meaning of "above" in contemporary Chinese; "self- " is not easy to explain, and it is not easy to justify itself.
Anyway, this still provides a new way of thinking, let's listen to it. Besides, Confucius receiving some dried meat as a greeting gift is not an unseemly thing.
However, if the "shackles" are understood as age, from the perspective of educational concepts, it is more worth playing.
According to the academic system of the Zhou Dynasty, only 15 years old could go to "university". Of course, this "university" is not today's university, otherwise the ancients would have become prodigies.
This university is the "university" in the "Four Books" and "University", mainly learning the principles of being a human being, such as righteousness, self-cultivation, and government.
Corresponding to "university", it is "primary school", which is mainly a more superficial gift of treating people and things and the most basic knowledge such as sprinkling and responding.
The "university" that the ancients read at the age of 15 is more like today's junior high school, which removes mathematics and physics.
From this point of view, the ancients actually read very late, there is no age anxiety, and they will not "rush to death at the starting line".
Confucius also said, "There are five out of ten and are determined to learn", and only at the age of 15 did they begin to study hard, and if they want to put it aside, they will definitely be criticized by their parents:
"I'm about to pass the exam, and I don't know how hard I worked!"
The ancients' tutoring treasure book is just the word: don't worry.
Contemporary psychologists also say: Wait for the flowers to bloom.
Now many young people, rather than have a caesarean section, but also want to have their children born before September 1, in the future to catch the last train of the year's school registration.
This is unreasonable and unscientific.
Someone once found a rule that among the world's top football players, relatively more are born in January and relatively few are born in the second half of the year.
Is this a phenomenon of chance, or is there some inner law? Experts who eat salty turnips and worry about it have spent a lot of money to conduct research, and the results have found that there is really a regularity.
What rules? When the young players are exposed to football, they are basically in childhood. Children's soccer teams are formed according to age.
But it is also 7 years old, some children are born in January, some children are born in December, it is a year short. This year, children's heights have varied dramatically.
Children born in December are short and have low odds of joining the soccer team; even if they are talented, it is difficult to stand out from a group of children who are much taller than themselves.
Even if the age difference is only half a year, the children who are half a year old have a great advantage over the younger half a year in terms of physical fitness. This advantage leads to coaches paying more attention to them, playing more time, more experience, stronger self-confidence, a virtuous circle, and getting better and better.
Half a year younger? The opposite is true.
This leads to more football stars who eventually have achievements, and more are born in the first half of the year. This phenomenon also exists in other industries.
Even if you study in a simple cultural class, there is a certain gap in understanding between half a year old and a half years old. Older people are more concerned, have more self-confidence, and have stronger leadership skills.
Therefore, instead of grabbing the "September 1st" point, it is better to wait for half a year and go to school a year later.
Of course, too much is not enough, it will play the opposite role, affecting self-confidence and self-esteem.
At the point of school age, relax a little, don't have to struggle, just go with the flow. There is no benefit to running.
