Hunan Daily, New Hunan Client, April 30 (Correspondent Li Bingjing He Suqiong) On the morning of April 29, the new book launch and invitation exhibition of oil paintings by Cheng Xiaoguang, an outstanding alumnus of Shonan College and a famous artist, opened in the library hall.
It is reported that Cheng Xiaoguang is one of the founders of the art department of the former Chenzhou Normal College, the founder of "Sketch China", the chairman of the Chinese Image Oil Painting Research Association, and the president of the Beijing Image Oil Painting Research Institute. The 50 oil paintings on display this time include opera characters, Quanzhou local life, characters and landscape imagery, most of which he has made in the past two years, recording his artistic walk. His new book "30 Years of Crazy Sketching" is a collection of essays, which tells about his life experience, learning to paint, creative career, sketching experience, and his deep and long love and warmth for his family, art and the land of Chenzhou.
At the opening ceremony, Zou Hongru, secretary of the Party Committee of Shonan University, announced the opening, and Wang Xuefeng, member of the Party Committee and vice president, delivered a speech. He first introduced the history of the development of the school's art major and the achievements of the art discipline in recent years. He said that Cheng Xiaoguang is an important witness and participant in the establishment of the school's art major, and this exhibition is not only an important embodiment of our school's service to alumni and local cultural construction, but also an important academic activity for the school's discipline construction and talent training. He sincerely invited alumni from all walks of life to visit their alma mater often, and wished the exhibition and book launch a complete success.
Wang Qionghua, chairman of the Municipal Federation of Culture and Art, said that Cheng Xiaoguang is a benchmark in Chenzhou's literary and art circles, and the upcoming new book "Thirty Years of Crazy Sketching" and the works in the exhibition show his perseverance, courage to break through, and highlight personality, which is worth learning from the majority of art practitioners.
Finally, Cheng Xiaoguang recalled his experience of studying and working in school and his mental journey of carrying out artistic creation for decades. He admitted that the release and exhibition of this new book has opened a good start for his large-scale sketching creation "Chenzhou Dahuan" that he will start this year, Chenzhou is the place where his "crazy sketching" began, and this time returning to his alma mater to hold an exhibition is also the beginning of his next "crazy sketching".
After the opening ceremony, the guests went to the art museum to watch the exhibition of Cheng Xiaoguang's oil paintings and conducted academic discussions. Cheng Xiaoguang will also conduct a live painting demonstration for teachers and students of the School of Art and Design.
It is understood that this exhibition will last until May 5 and is free for all sectors of society.
