Mr. Fan Qinwu

In 1911, the Xinhai Revolution swept across the country. Xiao Yuhao, who had just learned things, witnessed the revolutionary feats that took place in his hometown and carved a deep mark on his young mind. In 1920, Fan Qinwu was admitted to Xianlin Middle School. There, he came into contact with many revolutionary ancestors, was influenced by the new cultural ideas, and secretly set up a great ambition to save the country and save the people in the depths of the water. After graduating from high school, he taught at Qilisi Elementary School, and under the influence of underground communists, he enthusiastically threw himself into the wave of spreading new culture, anti-feudalism, anti-warlordism, and boycotting Japanese goods. In 1926, he was admitted to the Feng Yuxiang Department and listened to the political lectures of Soviet advisers many times, thus further strengthening his ambition to arouse the people and save the country and the people.

After the "April 12" coup d'état, the young Fan Qinwu was deeply disappointed and indignantly disarmed and returned home. On the recommendation of the underground communists Zhang Xiaozhi and Liang Tingju, Fan Qinwu entered the Hua County Education Bureau. During this period, he actively organized teachers and students to cooperate with the Weihua Uprising and carried out vigorous political propaganda activities to "overthrow the new warlords and eradicate the landlords and bullies". After the failure of the Weihua rebellion, he went out into hiding for nearly a month to escape the bloody suppression of the Kuomintang reactionaries. Later, under the cover of his close friend and newly arrived young county magistrate Li Yaocai (the underground party of the Communist Party), he returned to the county education bureau again, served as a school inspector, and participated in the progressive activities of banning private schools and promoting civilian education.

Mr. Fan Qinwu has loved calligraphy since childhood, based on Europe, and has learned liu, yan and zhao. As early as 1930, it was well-known in the local area, and sometimes there were "Great Qin" and "Little Qin". Later, he inherited the guidance of his right predecessors and entered the research seal. After retirement, he was even more "conscious of the night of Mulberry Yu, for Xia Shang full of heaven", he exhausted his wisdom, studied calligraphy, and worked tirelessly. In 1996, he compiled and printed three books of "Book Manuscript Fragmentation and Li Seal Calligraphy", and commented that "Lishu is unique and has opened up a new flower of calligraphy". He put forward the view of "calligraphy for my use, for my pleasure, for my life", and his calligraphy works have won many awards in international and domestic competitions, and won many titles and reputations. The 95-year-old Mr. Fan Lao, who is full of red light, does not need to be picked up by people, does not use crutches, steps on the ground, participates in various activities of the CPPCC and calligraphy circles, splashes ink and waves, recites poetry, and whenever there is a big event or festival, there will be new works. It can be said that his poetry and calligraphy, character and sentiments are the same; his temperament and mind, and his life and values are fused together.

Fan Qinwu's "Book Manuscript Fragmentation" and a collection of Calligraphy and Seal Calligraphy

Although a long-lived old man who walked with the century experienced different historical periods of the Xinhai Revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the War of Liberation, and socialist construction, the spirit of pursuing progress and pursuing light was consistent, and from different stages and different aspects, the times and the shocking historical picture of the twentieth century were reflected. Interpreting Fan Lao with the attitude of historical materialism is not without lessons and inspiration for us.
