On March 30, 2022, Black Shark released a new generation of game e-sports flagship mobile phone Black Shark 5 series, all mobile phones support 120W super flash charging technology, and also jointly launched the Black Shark 5 series China Aerospace Deep Customization Edition with China Aerospace Shenzhou Media, equipped with a series of aerospace-themed IP custom accessories.
Also released with the 120W charger are the Black Shark Starstream GaN 30W charger, the Black Shark Fengming True Wireless Bluetooth Headset Noise Reduction Edition, the Black Shark Ice-Sealed Heat Dissipation Back Clip 2 Pro and the armor magnetic thermal conductivity protective case. The charging head network has got the Black Shark Star Stream GaN 120W fast charging set, and the following is to disassemble the 120W charger to see how the interior is designed.

The front of the box is printed with the Black Shark logo, charger set, name, and prominent Chinese space station lettering.
The back is affixed with product nameplate stickers and Shenzhou media stickers.
On the side there is a joint design of China Aerospace and BLACK SHARK.
The package contains the charger, data cable and instruction manual.
The attached cable is A to C braided thread, which is tied and organized using two cable ties.
Not only the braided wire, but also the zinc alloy terminal shell, the whole data cable design is full of sincerity.
USB-A male close-up, like the Data Cable of the Xiaomi Series, has an additional pin for recognizing the fast charging protocol, which is also the secret of this charger to support the PD protocol.
The length of the data cable is approximately 152cm.
The appearance of the charger is designed with Gundam elements, and the color matching is in line with the blue sky and white clouds, and the overall look is quite cool.

Black Shark 120W Starstream GaN fast charge charger disassembly
After a detailed understanding of the appearance and performance of the Black Shark 120W charger, the following continues to disassemble it to see how the internal materials work.
First pry open the charger pin side cover, visible charger internal filling filling, want to further disassemble, can only use the cutting machine to cut open the shell.
The cutting machine is used to cut open the shell and expose the PCBA module inside the charger, and most of the 120W chargers launched by mobile phone manufacturers use the glue filling process.
The filling process fills and fixes the internal device of the charger into a whole, which can greatly improve the heat dissipation performance and weather resistance of the charger, and the moisture will not enter the inside of the charger, making it more reliable to use. On the other hand, the filling process improves the mechanical strength and is not easy to damage when it encounters a drop. And the filling can also increase the heat capacity of the charger, absorb the heat of high-speed fast charging, and distribute it evenly through the shell. The filling glue absorbs heat + dissipates heat in a large area, reducing the temperature rise of short-term fast charging.
The AC input is completely filled with glue.
A small PCB is exposed at the output that filters the solid capacitor and usb-A mother.
Remove the silicone on the PCB, the high-voltage electrolytic capacitor is covered with an insulating cover on the top, and there is an isolation board between the primary stages, and the insulation measures are quite in place.
The input pins are soldered directly to the PCB via wires.
Connect the wires under the soldering and start looking at the PCB, with a delay fuse at the input, an NTC surge suppression resistor, two stages of common mode inductance, and a Y capacitor. The right PFC boost circuit uses an iron shield.
The iron sheet is soldered to the PCB and fixed, wrapped in the PFC boost circuit, shielded from interference.
Remove the shielding iron sheet, inside is the PFC filter inductor, filter capacitor and PFC boost inductor.
On the output side are synchronous rectifier boards, filtered solid capacitors, USB-A masters and Y capacitors.
On the side is an input EMI circuit consisting of two stages of common-mode inductance and X capacitor.
The planar transformer is placed close to the PCB, the two ends are welded to the small board connection, and the primary plate is welded with high voltage filter capacitors. The combination of multiple PCBs improves space utilization, enhances heat dissipation performance, and improves the power density of the charger.
The front of the circuit board is clearly arranged, the internal layout of the charger is clear, the upper left corner is the input EMI filter circuit, the lower left corner is the PFC power factor correction, the lower left corner is the switching power supply, and the right side is the output interface.
On the back of the board, you can see a rectifier bridge, two smd Y capacitors in series, as well as three feedback optocouplers and a controller.
Through observation and analysis, it is found that the Black Shark Starstream 120W GaN fast charger has a built-in PFC power factor correction circuit to power the switching power supply, and the flyback switching power supply is controlled by the protocol chip for a wide voltage output design architecture, and the output adopts synchronous rectification. Let's start with the input to understand the details of each component.
First, remove all the components on the front of the charger to facilitate the observation of the components on the board. The rectifier bridge, PFC boost switch and rectifier can be seen on the front.
The input delay fuse is from Walter and has a specification of 3.15A 250V.

The rectifier bridge on the back of the circuit board is the same as the front rectifier bridge, and two are used to form a full bridge.

The PFC boost controller from Silicon Jay, model SY5072B, operates in critical mode with constant on-time operation, and the built-in boost converter uses quasi-resonant switching for high efficiency and optimized EMI performance.

The primary controller is ON ON Semiconductor NCP1342, which is a high-frequency primary PWM controller with built-in active X2 capacitor discharge and multiple perfect protection functions. The high-voltage filter electrolytic capacitor is soldered on a small board on the side of the planar transformer, and the disassembly continues to completely split this part of the transformer.
As can be seen from the back, a PCB board is soldered at both ends of the flat transformer, which is connected to the motherboard through the PCB board. The primary platelet welds the switch tube and filter capacitor, and the secondary platelet welds the synchronous rectifier circuit.
The side plate is connected to the transformer and capacitor under the welding, and the right side of the plate is a shielding cover that is also removed and filled with thermal adhesive.

The protocol chip is from Weltrend, model WT6633P. This is a USB PD control chip, and is one of the few PD controllers that have obtained Qualcomm QC4 and QC4+ test certification, with a built-in USB-PD physical layer, Type-C cable detection, built-in voltage regulator, voltage and current monitoring function, and load switch control.
