World Book Day
This year, 23 April marks the 27th World Book Day. The origin of this festival depends on a mythical story: the beautiful princess is trapped in the mountains by the dragon, and the warrior George defeats the dragon alone and saves the princess; the gift the princess gives to George is a book. Since then, the book has become a symbol of courage and strength. April 23 becomes "St. George's Day", during which there is a custom of exchanging books.
In line with this custom, in 1995, UNESCO declared 23 April as World Book Day. The purpose of the establishment is that whether you are old or young, whether you are poor or rich, whether you are sick or healthy, you can enjoy the pleasure of reading, you can respect and thank the masters of literary, cultural and scientific thought who have made great contributions to human civilization, and you can protect intellectual property rights.
