This year marks the 120th anniversary of Mr. Shen Congwen's birth, and on April 22, the Xiangxi State Library and the Xiangxi Writers Association jointly held the "2022 World Book Day Commemoration of the 120th Anniversary of Mr. Shen Congwen's Birth" reading sharing meeting on the occasion of the 27th World Book Day. In 1957, the People's Literature Publishing House first printed the Selected Novels of Shen Congwen. Mr. Shen Congwen, who has not written a novel for 9 years since 1948, wrote such a sentence in the "Inscription".
But today, more than half a century later, Mr. Shen Congwen and his literary works have been continuously recognized, interpreted, studied, and written in this era, influencing and touching generations of literary enthusiasts.
Mr. Shen Congwen was born on December 28, 1902 in Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Prefecture. His literary masterpieces include the novellas "Border City" and "Long River", the novel collection "Xiao Xiao", "Long Zhu", "Tiger Chick", the prose collection "Xiangxing Sanji", "Xiangxi", etc., the historical research "Research on Ancient Chinese Costumes", and the aesthetics collection "Shen Congwen on Chinese Aesthetics". Mr. Shen's literary creations, poetic and simple, are praised and well-known in the Chinese and foreign literary circles.
