According to the entry "Tang Jiezhong" in the "Cross-Talk Dictionary", Tang Jiezhong joined the army in 1949 and was transferred to the Soldier Acrobatic Troupe of the Guangzhou Military Region in 1958 and became a professional cross-talk actor.
