4. Dog meat general: Liu Baorui said in his cross talk that it was named because Zhang Zongchang sold dog meat. There are many theories on the Internet, and the reliable ones are:
First, Zhang Zongchang once flattered Japan, and was regarded as Japan's "dog leg", and he was very brutal and tyrannical, so he got the nickname of "Dog Meat General".
Second, it is rumored that during a military parade, a wild dog broke into the venue and frightened Zhang Zongchang's war horse, causing Zhang Zongchang to be extremely angry. Subsequently, he not only punished the guards, but also ordered the whole city to be searched and killed by dogs to vent his hatred. After this incident, people associated Zhang Zongchang with dog fighting, which gave rise to the term "dog meat general".
Third, there is a popular saying in Shandong folk called "dog meat is not on the table". It means that dog meat cannot be used to entertain guests, and the grade is too low, and it is difficult to get into the elegant hall. Zhang Zongchang, as a warlord in charge of one party, always does some low-quality and unpopular things, so in the eyes of the people, he is called "dog meat general".
