Welcome to watch this issue of Feng Ge Chat, the NBA playoffs are currently in full swing, today for you to take stock of which teams in the history of the NBA have been overturned by opponents in the case of a 3-1 lead. The first team in NBA history to take a 3-1 lead in the playoffs but be turned upside down was the 76ers in 1967-68, who led the Celtics 3-1 in the Eastern Conference semifinals before being swept three straights by the Celtics. At that time, the 76ers had Chamberlain, and the Celtics had Russell, and Chamberlain was ultimately invincible with both fists.
The second team to be reversed was the Suns in the 1969-70 season, the Suns were reversed 1-3 by the Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals, when Chamberlain had joined the Lakers, but the Lakers were beaten by the Knicks in the finals and eventually lost the game.
The third team to be reversed was the Spurs in 1978-79, when the Spurs were still part of the Eastern Conference, and under george Gervin they reached the Eastern Conference Finals and led the Washington Bullets 3-1 in the first four games, but under the leadership of Elvin Hayes, the Bullets eventually reversed the Spurs.
The fourth team to be reversed was the 76ers in 1980–81, and in the Eastern Conference Finals, the 76ers were reversed again, and this time against the Celtics.
The fifth team to be reversed was the Suns in 1994-95, when the Suns and Rockets met in the Western Conference semifinals, with the Suns leading 3-1 in the first four games, but the last three Olajuwons went too far against the sky and led the Rockets to reverse the Suns.
The sixth team to be reversed was the 1996–97 Knicks, when the Knicks and Heat met in the Eastern Conference semifinals, trailing the Heat 1-3 in the first four games, followed by the Heat reversing the Knicks in the next three games under the leadership of Mourning and Hardaway.
The seventh team to be reversed was the Magic in 2002-03, when magic star Maddy, with a 3-1 lead over the Pistons in the first round, uttered the classic phrase "I've reconsidered my opponent in the next round," but the mighty Pistons eventually reversed the Magic, making Maddy's rhetoric a joke.
The eighth team to be reversed was the 2005-06 Lakers, who barely made it to the playoffs with Kobe Bryant's anti-heaven performance, and they met the Suns in the first round. However, in the first 4 games, the Lakers actually took a 3-1 lead, but in the next three games, the Suns still reversed the Lakers with more powerful strength.
The ninth team to be reversed was the Clippers in 2014-15, when they led the Rockets 3-1 in the Western Conference semifinals, but in the last three games, Harden broke out a wave to take the Clippers away.
The tenth team to be reversed was the Thunder in the 2015-16 season, when Durant and Westbrook were still in the Thunder, in the Western Conference Finals, the Thunder and the Warriors met, the Thunder took a 3-1 lead in the first four games, but in the next three games Curry and Thompson both ushered in the outbreak, and finally the Warriors reversed the Thunder to reach the Finals.
The eleventh team to be reversed was the Warriors in 2015-16, the Warriors reversed the Thunder in the West, but they lost the championship by the Cavaliers 1-3 in the Finals. The Warriors also became the only team in history to be reversed by an opponent with a 3-1 lead in the Finals.
The twelfth team to be reversed was the 2019-20 Jazz, who met the Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference, taking a 3-1 lead in the first four games, but in the next three games, the Nuggets reversed the Jazz with the explosion of Murray and Jokic. In that round, Mitchell and Murray scored became classics.
The thirteenth team to be reversed was the Clippers in the 2019-20 season, after the Nuggets reversed the Jazz, in the semifinals and the Clippers encountered, the first four games the Nuggets were also 1-3 behind, but then they won three consecutive sets to reverse the Clippers. The Nuggets reversed their opponents twice in a row in the same year's playoffs, also setting NBA records.
It is worth mentioning that 3 of the above 13 reversed teams are teams coached by Rivers, namely the 2003 Magic, the 2015 Clippers and the 2020 Clippers.
