At the 2019 SEMA Modification Show, Ram once unveiled a concept pickup called the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (Off The Grid), which was heavily modified and equipped with a series of novel outdoor gear. Recently, a patent drawing that is very similar to this car was exposed, but the date of the car's patent application is July 23, 2020, and it was not announced until April 12 this year. On the whole, Ram seems to be interested in launching a mass production version of this concept car, adding another "camping" to the North American pickup truck market, which is very competitive in itself.
Judging from the comparison between the patent diagram and the concept car, this car should be the mass production version of the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG. In the exterior section, the concept car is equipped with a huge black grille at the front with RAM logo in the middle, and a heavy-duty front bumper below, which integrates a winch, trailer hook, auxiliary lighting and so on. The modified parts on the patent diagram are also retained.
The concept car is equipped with a black wading hose on the right side of the body, and a side guard bar under the door, which is also equipped with these two accessories in the patent picture. The concept car tail and folio tailgate are also equipped, which is a unique patent of the Ram pickup. There is also a folio tailgate in the published patent diagram.
There are also many differences between the patent and the concept car, but most of it is those camping equipment, such as gantries, roof tents, cargo drawers, etc., and the roof luggage rack has also been removed. It is not known how much equipment will be able to continue in the final production version.
Even if it's not converted to a concept car, the Ram 1500 Rebel is a model with a basic modification, with a two-inch elevation kit, 35-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, and a unique front and rear bumpers. The original car is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, which is also powerful enough to meet the needs of wild adventures. If the concept car can be mass-produced, it is speculated that it may be launched as a special edition of Momar, joining the product camp as a new member of the family.
