On April 17, local time, a two-star long-distance race (CCI2*-L) of the International Federation of Horse Racing (FEI) triathlon ended in Oudkarspel, the Netherlands. The three pairs of chinese equestrian triathlon teams won the qualification for the Hangzhou Asian Games and completed the stage goal of full participation in the team and individual competition.

Three riders from the Chinese equestrian triathlon team, Sun Huadong, Bao Yingfeng and Lu Junhong, competed together and achieved excellent results after three days of competition in three events (dressage, cross-country and track obstacle course). Among them, Tokyo Olympic rider Sun Huadong joined hands with Olympic foal Lady Chin van't Moerven Z to win the championship with 23.5 penalties. The result was benchmarked against the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, surpassing the silver riders by 2.9 penalties. It is worth mentioning that this is the first official competition of Sun Huadong and his teammates in 2022, and it is also the first time in his career that he has won the TWO-star long-distance championship of the INTERNATIONAL Madrid Federation.
Asian Games rider Lu Junhong rode bao Yingfeng's Olympic reserve foal Teseo to finish third with 30.1 penalties. Another Tokyo Olympic rider and National Games individual champion, Bao Yingfeng, partnered with Olympic foal Flania 2 to rank fourth with 31.1 penalties.
