What is Shengxuan? It can quickly absorb water or ink, and can pass through the rice paper on the back from the front, which is called raw propaganda. The main characteristic of Shengxuan is that it has a strong moisturizing properties. Therefore, it is suitable for painting ink painting. Of course, as long as the ink is properly transported, it can also be used to write calligraphy.
What is half-baked propaganda? Being able to slowly absorb water or ink and slightly pass through the rice paper on the surface, we are called half-cooked xuan, that is, there are both the characteristics of half raw xuan and the characteristics of half cooked xuan. This kind of rice paper with half-raw and half-cooked characteristics is suitable for writing brush calligraphy, especially for beginners, due to the slow absorption of ink, it is suitable for beginners to control pen and ink.
What is Cooked Propaganda? Water or ink will only stay on the paper, it is difficult to be completely absorbed by the paper, and it will not pass through the paper on the back, which is called cooked xuan. It is contrary to the characteristics of Shengxuan and does not have moistening properties. It fits painters with brush strokes and doesn't smudge on color. Since the familiar xuan can not run ink, it can also be used to write letters.
Which is better? It can be seen from this that the raw propaganda, the half-raw and half-cooked propaganda, the mature propaganda. The difference between them is that the degree of water absorption is a three-fold paper property from easy to absorb water, to semi-absorbent, to non-absorbent. It is three different paper-based forms of rice paper of the same quality. Therefore, there is no such thing as a paper-based better one. It's just that each has its own uses. The first category, low-grade mechanism rice paper (raw xuan, half-cooked xuan and cooked xuan), is suitable for calligraphy and painting practice, initial creation. This type of paper is also the most sold paper on the market at present.
The second category, mid-range handmade calligraphy and painting (raw Xuan, half raw and half cooked Xuan and cooked Xuan), that is, handmade calligraphy and painting paper, such as handmade special pure skin, ancient sandalwood skin Xuan, three-in-one fur Xuan, etc. The quality of this type of paper is better than that of mechanical rice paper, of course, the price is much higher than that of machine propaganda. The third category, handmade rice paper (raw xuan, half raw and half cooked xuan and cooked xuan).
