Warner is considering reforming the DC Universe to improve the quality and quantity of related games

According to a new report, Warner Bros. Discovery) is looking to "boost" DC's game production. According to Variety magazine, after the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery Entertainment, the new group will take over Warner Bros. Games. Discussions are reportedly underway within the company on how to "overhaul" the DC universe in the media space, including gaming.

Warner Bros., the game arm of Warner Bros., Interactive Entertainment. Interactive Entertainment is currently working on four DC game projects, namely Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, The Wolf Among Us 2 and Wonder Woman.

The report also revealed that the company plans to reinvigorate characters such as Superman and seek a Kevin feige-like figure to oversee the company's expansion.

While DC's films are second at the box office, behind Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe, they are more competitive in the gaming space. In the 2010s, Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham was a huge commercial success, as did the Injustice series (two fighting games developed by Mortal Kombat studio NetherRealm). While Marvel's game output was a bit bumpy because Marvel's Avengers had a mediocre response and disappointing performance, Marvel's Spider-Man series was a huge success.

Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, developed by Insomniac Games, are both commercial hits. A sequel is currently in development. Insomniac Games is also currently working on a Wolverine game. Rocksteady Studios' next game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, was originally scheduled to be released this year, but was postponed to 2023 in March.

Warner Bros. recently announced that Gotham Knight will be released on October 25, 2022. Developed by WB Games Montreal and led by creative director Patrick Redding, Gotham Knights has directed "Conviction" and "The Blacklist" for Splinter Cell.
