At 19:30 on October 5, 2021, Tan Dun's "Dunhuang Ode to Mercy" tour came to Tianjin for the first time, singing the magnificent sound of the "Silk Road".
This is the first time that the musical blockbuster "Dunhuang Ode to Mercy" has lit up the largest port city in northern China.
"Dunhuang Ode to Mercy" is the internationally renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun over a period of six years, more than a dozen visits to Dunhuang's heart-wrenching work, the Dunhuang murals dissolved to today's stage, the work broke the Western musical tradition, in the form of Chinese civilization epic to express the story of Eastern philosophy, showing the vastness of the sea, Tan Dun believes that this is his "most important work in life".
He premiered at the 2018 Dresden Music Festival in Germany, and was invited to Australia, Hong Kong and Los Angeles for a world tour.
In June 2019, Tan Dun began his first tour in China with "Dunhuang Ode to Mercy", performing six performances in five cities: Xi'an, Dunhuang, Changsha, Qingdao and Shanghai, and at the end of the year, he was invited by the Haikou Municipal Government to perform two "New Year Concerts".
In 2020, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the end of the year were staged in Beijing, Shenzhen, Changsha and other places, wishing people a reunion and a sound mountain and river.
Along the way, "Dunhuang Ode to Mercy" was hard to find everywhere it went, and at the end of the performance, the audience stood up and applauded for twenty minutes.
On this year's National Day, Tan Dun's "Ode to Dunhuang And Mercy" went all the way north, premiered in Shenyang, which is known as the "eldest son of the republic", on the 3rd, and sang the magnificent sound of the "Silk Road" in Tianjin, the largest port city in the north.
The performance was produced by Dunhuang Research Institute, Hunan Radio, Film and Television Group Co., Ltd., Hunan Radio and Television Media Co., Ltd., co-hosted by Yunhong Communication Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Tingyin Pathfinding Cultural Exchange Co., Ltd., and the chief partner of Luzhou Laojiao Guojiao 1573.
