Every present moment is a dojo for life practice

Wiping the ink on his hands and table, his mood gradually calmed down.

He lit a cigarette.

After taking two sips, he glanced at the cigarette case on the table, and six more cigarettes.

He decided today that after smoking this box of cigarettes, he would quit smoking.

At this time, a thought suddenly flashed in my mind: If you want to quit smoking, why don't you start now, but you have to wait until you finish smoking these last few cigarettes?

He was startled by his own thought.

Yes, I decided to quit smoking because I wanted to live a healthy life.

Because smoking not only hurts your body, but also wastes your own money.

Would you be willing to burn 1 yuan?

Definitely reluctant.

But when we light a cigarette every time, it is actually 1 yuan or even more.

But our faces do not change color, our hearts do not beat, swallow clouds and spit mist, and enjoy it, without the slightest hesitation, guilt or heartache.

Since you have realized that cigarettes hurt your body and money, why do you have to wait until you have smoked the last few cigarettes before you start to quit?

On the surface, I don't want to waste, but in fact, I just give myself procrastination and insufficiency, find a lame reason and excuse.

Not only quitting smoking, in fact, we will fall into such a delaying trap a lot of times.

We always make all kinds of lofty goals and plans for ourselves, and then carefully choose a day of special significance that we have given ourselves, and then we are ready to start.

My favorite option is January 1 of each year, followed by the first day of the month, then the first day of the week, or my own birthday, which is also known as: it is another rebirth of oneself.

Or, the ones we talk about the most are: "From tomorrow" and "Next time.".

Looking at the written plan or goal, we have a vague excitement and pleasure, as if writing it down means that it has been achieved.

Finally, look at how many of these plans we have set have actually been implemented and how many goals have been achieved?

The reason why we don't start doing it now, but we have to do it tomorrow or in a few days, is because we haven't thought it through, or are not ready, or even don't really want to do it at all!

This kind of procrastination is actually just to find a self-deceptive comfort and excuse for your laziness and incompetence, so that you don't look so lazy, incompetent and failed!

We are either waiting for the pie to fall from the sky, and before this start date comes, a miracle will happen, and all our problems will be solved once and for all, and we will not have to work so hard and hard ourselves.

Or wait for the situation to change, so that you have a reason not to do it, "not that I don't want to go for a run, but because it's raining, I can't do anything", "It's not that I don't want to quit smoking, but several friends present here are handing them cigarettes, and I don't smoke will hurt the feelings between friends"...

We want to do something, and there may be only one reason.

And we don't want to do one thing, but we can find a few, dozens of high-sounding reasons.

The results are predictable.

So we would rather stay in the comfort zone we are used to, a few years of mediocre, muddy, complaining, sighing, rather than taking the first step, gritting our teeth for a few months, to implement and complete our plans bit by bit, so as to change the status quo and embrace the life we want.

What are we afraid of? What are we waiting for? How long are we going to hurt ourselves?

It is really difficult to challenge your laziness, procrastination and flaws, and it is indeed very painful and tiring to break through your comfort zone, but are you really willing to just curl up in the dark night, clinging to the lack of weakness, humble as grass, depressed, lingering, exhausting all your enthusiasm and life?

The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago, which we missed.

The second best time is now, please be sure not to miss it again!
