Paris-Roubaix DSM team to start? UCI said: Compliant with the regulations

Recently, the DSM team has publicly stated that they will use THE ATMOZ built-in tire pressure management system developed by SCOPE at the Paris-Roubaix race, which adjusts the pressure of the tires during the ride.

In view of the controversy caused by this "black technology", UCI issued an announcement confirming its legality. UCI said: As of April 1, 2022, the built-in tire pressure management system has been authorized for professional road bikes. According to the authorization of Section 1.3.004 of the UCI Regulation, the tire pressure management system does not change the structure of the wheelset, is controlled by a button on the handlebar, and uses a mechanical valve to regulate the air pressure between the air receiver and the vacuum tire. According to 1.3.006 of the UCI Regulation, a tire pressure management system is available to all those who are engaged in cycling.

Developed by Dutch-based Scope in collaboration with the DSM fleet, this tire pressure management system allows riders to adjust their tire pressure by inflating or deflating their tires through handlebar-mounted controllers during the ride.

The SCOPE Atmoz can be mounted on the hub of any 700C or 29 inch wheelset, connected to the vacuum tire system via valves and hoses, not only to manually control the tire pressure, but also to connect with the code meter via ANT+ or Bluetooth to monitor the tire pressure of the vehicle in real time.

Scope Atmoz Tire Pressure Management System adjusts tire pressure to suit a variety of different road surfaces, increasing tire pressure on flat roads reduces rolling resistance, and lowering tire pressure on bumpy and wet roads reduces bumps, increasing comfort and safety. The Atmoz product page describes its ability to reduce the rolling resistance by 30 watts under certain circumstances, which at this stage can be said to be a revolutionary product.

Due to its ability to adjust the tire pressure at will, the product can be said to be a god assist for events like Paris-Roubaix. With this season's Paris-Roubaix race to begin this Sunday, will the introduction of this technology catch other teams off guard? After all, the start of the race is imminent, and even if it is known now, it is too late for the team to equip their own vehicles with the system.

At present, the system has two colors of black and blue to choose from, the price is 3304 euros, about 22850 yuan, although the thing is good, but the price may make most of the riders prohibitive.
