In-depth analysis: Used car transactions in February were 1.0768 million units, up 12.71% year-on-year

In February 2022, the national used car market traded 1.0768 million units, an increase of 12.71% year-on-year. Affected by the Spring Festival holiday in February, the working days decreased compared with January, and the actual trading days were only 16 days, which was 5 days less than that in January. Most used car dealers do not officially resume work until after the fifteenth day of the first month. Therefore, the decline in customer intake and sales in the first week after the holiday is more obvious. Since the third week, vehicle supply and passenger gathering capacity have steadily rebounded.

Since March, the frequency of the epidemic has increased significantly, and the number of infected people has continued to rise, which has had a greater impact on the operation of the second-hand car market, and the market continues to be sluggish. Judging from the weekly market performance in March, the first three weeks have been in the decline range, and the fourth week, although there was a slight correction, the average daily trading volume fell by 20% compared with the same period in February. As a result, the size of the transaction is expected to be around 1.33-1.35 million units this month, down 15% year-on-year from March last year. In the first quarter, the transaction volume is expected to be about 3.91 million units, which is 40,000 fewer than the same period, and the cumulative decline is 1% year-on-year.

Basic passenger cars traded a total of 640,000 units, up 10.78% year-on-year; SUVs traded 138,000 units, up 34.58% year-on-year; 65,600 MPVs, up 21.12% year-on-year; and crossover passenger cars traded 23,900 units, up 12.67% year-on-year.

Commercial vehicles: 74,500 passenger cars, down 5.50% year-on-year; 82,700 trucks, up 2.75% year-on-year.

In February 2022, the overall sales of all levels of cars, A-class cars are still the hottest models in the second-hand car market, accounting for an average of 50.1%, followed by B-class cars accounting for an average of 22.2%, C-class and D-class cars accounting for 6.3% and 1.8%, an increase of 0.2% and 1.7% respectively; in February, the proportion of A-class and A00-class cars has declined compared with last year, and B-class, C-class and D-class cars have shown a growth trend, of which B-class is the most obvious.

In February 2022, A00-class models accounted for 35.5% of the national new energy used car trading models, an increase of 1.3 percentage points over the previous month and a decrease of 22.4 percentage points over the same period last year; A0-class models accounted for 9.4%, an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the previous month, a decrease of 2.3 percentage points year-on-year;

A-class models accounted for 16.6%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from the previous month, an increase of 1.4 percentage points year-on-year; B-class models accounted for 7.1%, a decrease of 1.2 percentage points from the previous month, an increase of 2.5 percentage points year-on-year;

SUV models accounted for 27.9%, down 1.3 percentage points from the previous month and 14 percentage points year-on-year; MPV accounted for 2.5%, an increase of 1.1 percentage points from the previous month and 1.6 percentage points year-on-year. C-class models accounted for the lowest proportion, accounting for 0.6%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month and an increase of 0.6 percentage points year-on-year;

In February, the transactions with a service life of used cars in 3-6 years accounted for the largest proportion, accounting for 37.2%, an increase of 2.7 percentage points over the previous month, an increase of 2.1 percentage points over the same period last year, and the service life of models in 3 years accounted for 28.4%, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the previous month, an increase of 6.6 percentage points over the same period last year;

Models aged in 7-10 years accounted for 21%, a decrease of 1.1 percentage points from the previous month, a decrease of 5.5 percentage points from the same period last year; models with an age of more than 10 years accounted for 13.4%, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, a decrease of 3.2 percentage points from the same period last year

In February 2022, the national new energy used car service life of less than 2 years accounted for 22.4%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the previous month, an increase of 3.9 percentage points over the same period last year. The service life accounted for 47.2% in 2-4 years, an increase of 4.4 percentage points over the previous month and a decrease of 6.4 percentage points over the same period last year.

The trading volume with a service life of 4-6 years accounted for 25.3%, a decrease of 4.6 percentage points from the previous month and an increase of 3.5 percentage points from the same period last year. Transactions with a service life of more than 6 years accounted for 5.2%, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month and a decrease of 1.0 percentage points from the same period last year.

Overall, in February, the proportion of transactions aged in 2-4 years decreased significantly compared with the same period last year, and the transactions with vehicle age within 2 years and 4-6 years increased faster than that of the same period last year.

In February, the second-hand car trading price range of less than 30,000 yuan in the vehicle market accounted for the largest proportion, accounting for 33.5%, down 2.1 percentage points from the same period last year. Vehicles in the price range of 30,000-50,000 accounted for 24.8%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.4 percentage points; the proportion of the second-hand car market above 300,000 yuan accounted for 2.7%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.

Compared with the same period last year in February, the proportion of used car transactions in the price range of 50,000-80,000, 150,000-300,000 and 300,000 increased, and the proportion of transaction volume in other price ranges decreased.

Overall, the proportion of the second-hand car market within 50,000 yuan is still more than half, accounting for 58.3% in February, a decrease of 2.6 percentage points from the same period last year.

In February 2022, the largest proportion of new energy used car prices below 30,000 was 33.48%, an increase of 0.01% over the previous month and an increase of 14.73 percentage points over the same period last year. This was followed by vehicles with prices in the price range of 30,000-50,000 accounting for 24.82%, an increase of 0.69% over the previous month. This is a decrease of 2.33 percentage points from the same period last year.

Vehicles with prices of more than 300,000 accounted for the lowest proportion, accounting for 2.68%, a decrease of 0.36% from the previous month. This is a decrease of 3.36 percentage points over the same period last year.

Overall, the trading price of new energy second-hand cars is mainly concentrated within 80,000 yuan, and the vehicles with a price range of less than 80,000 yuan in February accounted for 74.95%, an increase of 0.67% over the previous month. This is an increase of 17.46 percentage points over the same period last year.

In February 2022, the proportion of China IV emissions for used car passenger cars was the largest of 42.8%, an increase of 1.12 percentage points over the previous month, and a slight decrease of 2.39 percentage points from the same period last year.

Overall, among the second-hand passenger cars, the vehicles emitted by China IV and China V are the most concentrated, and the total number of China IV and China V emission vehicles in February accounted for 78.37%. A slight decrease from the same period last year. The proportion of vehicles emitted by China 1, 2 and 3 showed a downward trend year by year, accounting for 12.16% in February, a decrease of 2.56 percentage points over the same period last year.

In February 2022, the national used car trading volume decreased only in the northwest region compared with the same period last year, and the rest of the regions have increased to varying degrees. Among them, the growth in the southwest region was the most obvious, an increase of 20.82 percentage points year-on-year, and the transaction volume of used cars was 180,200 units, with a transaction volume of 11.426 billion yuan; the three regions of East China, Central South and Northeast China increased by more than 10% year-on-year, trading 366,900 used cars, 295,900 units and 69,000 used cars respectively, with transactions of 27.941 billion yuan, 19.904 billion yuan and 4.694 billion yuan; North China increased by 7.89% year-on-year. The trading volume of used cars was 117,300 units, with a transaction volume of 9.884 billion yuan; the decline in the northwest region narrowed from the previous month, down 11.60% year-on-year, and the transaction volume of used cars was 47,500 units, with a transaction volume of 2.428 billion yuan.

Among the offline trading brands, Wuling Hongguang ranked first in circulation, and the top 10 brands accounted for 11.28% of the transaction volume.

In February 2022, the top five provinces in the country in terms of the proportion of transfers were Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong, Anhui and Jilin, of which only Jilin Province saw a decrease in the number of transfers compared with the same period last year. Among the five provinces, Shandong Province had the most obvious growth rate, with 32,000 second-hand car registrations, an increase of 65.1% over the same period last year.

The growth rate of Beijing and Shanghai provinces exceeded 50%, and the number of transfers was 15,400 and 0.97 million, respectively. Anhui Province increased by 10.3% year-on-year, and the number of used car transfers was 0.48 million units. Jilin Province saw a slight year-on-year decline, with the number of used car transfers reaching 0.69 million units, down 2.5% year-on-year.

According to the survey, enterprises with an inventory cycle of less than 15 days in March 2022 accounted for 5.7%, a decrease of 1.1 percentage points from the previous month. Enterprises with an inventory cycle of 15-30 days accounted for 34.5%, a decrease of 2.3 percentage points from the previous month. Enterprises with inventory cycles of more than 30 days accounted for 59.8%, an increase of 3.4 percentage points over the previous month. About 60% of dealers in March said that the inventory cycle was more than 30 days.

The overall inventory cycle in March was 42 days, slightly longer than the 39 days in February.

In March 2022, the "line" certification received a total of 35662 uploaded car source data, of which 30707 car source data that met the line certification standards, accounting for 86.1%. Up from February data.

From the trend point of view, affected by the epidemic, starting from the fourth week of this month, uploading car source data began to go down.
