In 1976, Fu Lin composed the lyrics "The Sun is the Reddest Chairman Mao's Dearest", which was composed by Wang Xiren and prepared to be sung by a 17-year-old girl in the troupe. Because of his young age and insufficient life experience, the young singer could not perfectly interpret this work.

Fu Lin's sister Bian Xiaozhen was studying in military art, and Fu Lin asked her to sing. As a result, "The Sun Is the Reddest Chairman Mao's Dearest" was perfectly interpreted by Bian Xiaozhen and quickly became popular throughout the country. This song also changed Bian Xiaozhen's fate.

Fu Lin fell in love as early as when he was studying in military art, and his girlfriend was named Shi Xiujuan, 3 years older than Fu Lin, and stayed at the school to teach vocal music after graduating from military art.
