What is the Dali people holding in their hands?

Since its inception, the bronze Da Li figure has been highly sought after by the public, and before it was listed as a cultural relic that was banned from being exhibited abroad, it had been exhibited with Sanxingdui cultural relics in the United States, Britain, Germany and other countries, and some people even came up with 1 billion pounds to buy it.

Why do you have a "net red" physique?

Inseparable from the hands that held in a hollow ring. What exactly is in your hand? Over the years, not only experts and scholars are interested, "eating melon masses" are also curious, even the official Weibo of the Sanxingdui Museum often plays with stems, while saying "Don't ask what The Dali people have in their hands, the explainer Little Sister please let go", while calling on netizens to open their minds, "Looking forward to the creation of your soul P charters".

Living up to expectations, netizens have all kinds of fantastic ideas online.

Some netizens said that the first reaction may be an onion, and immediately someone refutes him, which has such a big onion; a little hardcore, thinking of submachine guns, big swords; cute, thinking of cone ice cream, glow sticks; love to learn, think of pens and ink; trend a little, think of mobile phones; and even some people say that the year is approaching, Dali people may take a chicken to prepare for the New Year...

Some people think it is Yu Chun or Yu Zhang, some people think it is ivory, some people think it is a scepter, and some people think that he actually takes nothing, and the two-handed ring holds represent the "void", symbolizing some mysterious ideas.

How to restore the Dali people?

Recalling the excavation of the bronze Da Li figure, Chen Xiandan, who participated in the excavation of the Sanxingdui sacrifice pit, still remembers it vividly, "The bronze longitudinal mask was the first to be revealed. At first, everyone thought it was a 'copper chair back'. When the cleaning was over, it was found that it was a huge bronze mask with 28.5 centimeters in one ear alone." Immediately after, in the pit full of ivory, a huge hand "stretched out". Archaeologists followed the hand to find the bronze Da Liren, and several people carried it out, at this time it had broken into two pieces, and could only be stacked with other artifacts scattered.

Until August 1987, Sun Zhenxiang, Zhao Jiaying, Fu Jinkai, Wang Xiangchao, seven cultural relics experts at the China History Museum (now the National Museum of China) were assigned by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage to sanxingdui to restore a number of cultural relics, including the bronze Da li figure.

At the first sight of the broken bronze statue, it was broken into two pieces from the waist, the head was seriously deformed and damaged, the copper block on the back was smashed to pieces, the base was also greatly corroded, and the difficulty of the entire restoration work can be imagined.

After research, the experts decided to use the traditional restoration method based on brazing and supplemented by bonding, and finally made the Dali people who were more than 3,000 years old stand up again.

Of course, the restoration work still leaves a small regret, the crown of the portrait is partially mutilated, due to the lack of clear basis, cultural relics experts have not been able to restore it.

Who is Da Li Ren?

The bronze statue is cast inlay by the sectional pouring method, and the body is hollow, which is divided into two parts: the portrait and the base. The restored statue is 180 cm high and 260.8 cm high, making it the tallest and most complete bronze figure in the world.

Status is noble. Whether it was the image of a certain Shu king or a wizard with supreme mana remained inconclusive. At present, the more mainstream view is that it is the most authoritative leader of the ancient Shu kingdom that integrates the identities of gods, witches and kings, and like the golden staff, it is the highest symbol of the combination of theocracy and kingship.

The lotus pattern on the crown of the portrait represents the "sun god"; the checkered belt ornament worn on the body has the nature of "legal belt"; and the several groups of dragon pattern decorations on the clothes have the meaning of sympathetic interpenetration with the gods. The clothes were not worn by the Sanxingdui people on a daily basis, but were most likely the garments worn by the Great Wizard during the sacrifice. The high platform on which the feet stand, consisting of four sacred beasts, is the dojo of practice, the altar or the sacred mountain.
