World Autism Day: Children who focus on the stars make them no longer alone

The light of warmth and love illuminates my heart family

Today is the fifteenth World Autism Day, and in December 2007 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to designate 2 April of each year as World Autism Day, starting in 2008.

World Autism Day: Children who focus on the stars make them no longer alone

The discovery and presentation of autism dates back to the 1940s. Professor Kahler, a child psychiatrist in the United States, conducted a detailed analysis of the basic characteristics of 11 children with autism and published a classic case report. His report aroused great interest among child psychologists and psychiatrists around the world, and research on autism began to develop rapidly.

However, autism varies in its characteristics and severity, occurs in all ethnic groups and economic classes, and affects people of any age. What is not optimistic is that the number of people with autism is increasing year by year.

Are autism all congenital?

Autism is not caused by a single factor, but by a combination of environmental, biological and genetic factors.

1. Genetic factors. Studies of twins and family members in people with autism have shown that some patients have a distinct genetic predisposition. One of the identical twins has autism, and the other has a 60% chance of getting it, or even 90%. If one of the heterozygotic twins has autism, the other has only a 5% chance of getting it. Studies have reported that the older parents are when they have children, the higher the risk of autism, and that grandparents have children later also increase the risk of autism in the third generation. Modern genetic models suggest that the triggers for autism are multifactorial, with at least two genes and possibly up to ten genes associated with this.

2. Environmental factors. Heavy metals, pesticides, pesticides, additives and preservatives and other biological heterologous substances that do not exist in the normal human body enter the body and will cause harm to the human body. Certain heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, antimony and manganese can be toxic to the human nervous system.

3. Psychological factors. Early researchers on autism found that children whose parents were "refrigerator-type" were predisposed to autism. Such children are emotionally distant from their parents and afraid to be close to them.

Is autism depression? Is the brain structure of autistic patients the same as that of ordinary people? Are people with autism mostly geniuses?

Autism, also called autism, children with autism are also called "children of the stars", they are like the stars in the sky, each on their own planet, distant one by one lit, can see, but can not touch. Autistic patients are different from ordinary people in terms of intelligence, emotions and behavior, but their brain structure is the same as that of normal people, but the academic community has not yet explored the specific cause of the disease.

Many people think that autism is depression, but in fact, the difference between the two is quite large. Autism is a physiological developmental problem, which is congenital, and the patient's intelligence lags behind that of ordinary people. Depression is only an emotional disorder, and the patient's intelligence is the same as normal people, or even more than ordinary people.

The public and the media also have such a common misunderstanding: that the personality is withdrawn, do not like to talk is autism, so some of the historical scientific and artistic geniuses such as Einstein, Van Gogh were crowned with autism hat, in fact, this is wrong, personality autism is not a reliable criterion for judging autism. Many people with extraordinary intelligence are often prone to sensitivity, their emotions will be different from ordinary people, and they are easy to be withdrawn, and the first criterion for autism is whether their intellectual development is normal.

So how should we recognize and treat autism?

However, drugs can only play a certain role in alleviating symptoms, and cannot play a substantial therapeutic role in the core defects of autism, that is, social and communication disorders, and both have certain side effects.

There is no medicine that is aimed at children with autism, and so far there is no drug that can make all the symptoms subside and be cured after eating.

Children with autism are not treated surgically, and very few need medication (such as children with extreme behavior and aggression) and rely primarily on rehabilitation.

There are now two main types of rehabilitation.

One is to apply the behavioral training method, that is, the decomposition training method

Break down language, movements, etc., and teach them to your child slowly. The advantage of this method is that it can be carried out anytime and anywhere, and the hospital will systematically train parents to train their children at home. This is also the main way for parents to rehabilitate their children.

The other is the structural training method

Compared with the above, this kind of more systematic, need a fixed place, the use of cards, tasks, system patterns, prompts and other methods, so that children master language and daily behavior, cultivate children's visual thinking and abstract thinking.

What each of us has to do is to correctly understand autism, avoid harm to autistic people and their families due to misunderstanding, accept them equally and sincerely, and help them integrate into society.

Care for the autistic people around you, hug them with a smile, you are not indifferent, you can melt loneliness!
