Andersen's fairy tale world

Let's pause for a moment, listen to the sound of students reading, and step into the fairy tale world written by Hans Christian Andersen.

Happy Chinese Children's Reading Day and International Children's Book Festival!

Young readers recite works on display

Recitation of Chapter 1:

Excerpt from "The Little Mermaid"

Young reader: Wang Yuanzhe

School: Zhuxin Kindergarten, Wangji Township, Fucheng County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province

Instructor: Yang Lirui

How many nights she stood at the open window and looked up at the deep blue waters, watching the fish slap the water with their fins and tails. She could see the moon and the stars glowing slightly; but through the water they looked bigger than our eyes could see.

As something like a black cloud drifted between her and them, she knew that it was either a whale swimming over her head or a boat full of men passing overhead, and the people on board could never have imagined that a little mermaid was standing beneath them, holding out her snow-white hands to the bottom of their boat.

Recitation of Chapter 2:

Excerpt from The Ugly Duckling

Little Reader: Mao Siran

School: Harbin Minjiang Primary School

Instructor: Dai Yu

"The other little ducks are beautiful," said the old female duck with a strip of cloth wrapped around her legs, "and get rid of that one; I hope his mother will make him look better." ”

"That can't be done, old lady," replied the mother duck, "but he is not pretty, but he has a very good disposition, and swims as well as any other duckling, even better." I suppose he would grow up to be pretty, and perhaps become smaller; he had been in the egg for too long; and therefore his body shape was not quite normal. Then she stroked his neck with her mouth, smoothed his feathers, and said, "He's a male duck, so it doesn't matter much." I think he'll be able to grow strong and take care of himself.

Recite Chapter 3:

Excerpt from "Little Ida's Flower"

Young reader: Wang Ruipeng

School: Shenzhen Pingshan Experimental School of Northeast Normal University

Instructor: Yan Ran

Oh, what a beautiful sight! There was no overnight light in the room, but it was bright because the moonlight penetrated the window and shone on the floor, making the room almost bright as day. All the hyacinths and tulips stood in two long rows in the room, not a single flower on the windowsill was gone, and all the pots were empty. The flowers were dancing on the floor, spinning, holding each other's long green leaves as they turned.

Sitting in front of the piano was a yellow lily, and Little Ida concluded that Summer had seen it because she remembered the college student saying it resembled Miss Lena, Ida's friend. Everyone laughed at him at the time, but now little Ida felt that this long yellow flower really resembled the young lady. It plays the piano in the same posture, tilting its long yellow face sideways to that side, nodding its head to the beat of the music.

Recite Chapter 4:

Excerpt from The Emperor's New Clothes

Young reader: Yang Rui

School: Chengda Experimental Primary School in Suzhou High-tech Zone

Instructor: Fang Yuchao

The emperor began to march under the beautiful canopy, and all those who saw him on both sides of the street and from the window said: "One good point, the emperor's new clothes are truly incomparable!" What a long hem of his robe! How well-fitting the clothes are! "No one wants anyone to know that he doesn't see anything, because then he's either incompetent or too stupid. The emperor's clothes never received greater praise.

"But he didn't wear anything at all," said one of the children at last, and the words of the children were quietly spread one by one. "But he didn't wear anything at all," cried all the men at last. This shocked the Emperor greatly, for he felt that what they had said was right; but he said in his heart, "Now I must stand up to the end." The servants also walked more respectfully, as if they were dragging the robe of the emperor that did not exist.

Recite Chapter 5:

Excerpt from The Little Girl Who Sold Matches

Young reader: Huangfu Junxi

School: Harbin Struggle Primary School

Instructor: Wang Han

She saw a star fall, leaving a bright trail of fire behind it. "There is a man dying," thought the little girl, for her old grandmother—the only one who had ever loved her, now dead—had told her that a star fell from heaven and a soul on earth ascended to God.

She drew another match on the wall, and the light illuminated her surroundings; in the light stood her old grandmother, who could see clearly, her whole body shining, and her appearance amiable. "Grandma," cried the little girl, "oh, you take me away; I know you'll be gone when the matches are a little over; you'll disappear like a warm stove and roast goose, and a splendid big Christmas tree." She hurried to light the whole bunch of matches, because she wanted to keep her old grandmother.

The matches were burning, and the light was brighter than noon, and her grandmother had never been so tall or so beautiful. She took the little girl in her arms, and they both soared upward in light and joy, far from earth, where there was no cold, no hunger, and no pain, for they were with God.
