Traditional typography

After long-term practice, two basic formats of European style and Soviet style have been formed.
European
Also known as the horizontal body, it was founded by the Northern Song Dynasty writer Ouyang Xiu. The characteristics of the European style are: generations are divided, from right to left, five worlds and one table (pictured), which is very convenient to use. In the European style, there is a biographical account on the left side of each person's name, which introduces the person's character, number, meritorious name, official title, birth date, spouse, burial place, merits, etc. The biggest advantage is that the paternity and brotherhood are clear.

Soviet style
Also known as the bead, it was founded by the Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Qing. The characteristics of the Su clan are: generations of straight sagging, no horizontal line connection between generations, all connected by vertical lines, sorted by line numbers, arranged from right to left, mainly emphasizing patriarchal relations. The biggest advantage is that the size relationship between the same generation is clear. The Genealogy of the Su style must be matched with a genealogy chart, so some people also call the lineage chart European, and later there is a saying that the Ou-Su is the same, that is, the European style and the Su style are in the same set of family trees, but such a statement is incorrect.

Pagoda style
The pagoda style is to arrange the names of generations of people like pagodas, from top to bottom. The pagoda type adopts the horizontal and vertical line connection method, which is characterized by placing the ancestor in the upper middle position, and the descendants are arranged in turn according to the generations, and each father must be placed in the middle above the children, so that the family members' closeness and blood relations are very clear.
However, the disadvantage of the pagoda style is that when the family develops to a certain extent, it is impossible to draw the lineage on a piece of paper, and because of the number of heirs of each branch, it is difficult to maintain the overall balance of the map, which is easy to give people a sense of intimacy, and the pagoda map is also greatly limited due to the limited length of the attached resume.
Memorization
Instead of connecting the relationship between generations of names in horizontal and vertical lines, the mucuna style expresses this relationship purely in words. Everybody has a profile under their name. The lineage form of the mucuna is fixed, the order is clear, and the paper is more economical. The genealogy is similar to the compilation of the resumes of each family member, and its origin is roughly derived from the European atlas, roughly equivalent to the biographical part behind the European atlas. The advantage is that the lineage is fixed and clear, so many families use this map.
